Stratos Lab, ECOBLOX and Digital Parks Africa Launch AI Cloud

The partners will deploy 400+ NVIDIA B300 GPUs for sovereign AI compute in Africa.

Stratos Lab, ECOBLOX and Digital Parks Africa have announced a strategic partnership to deploy a large-scale artificial intelligence cloud infrastructure in South Africa, positioning the project as a major expansion of sovereign AI computing capacity on the continent. The deployment is expected to use more than 50 NVIDIA B300 HGX GPU servers supplied by Giga Computing, representing more than 400 GPUs and a stated computing performance of 7.2 exaflops. The partners say the infrastructure will give African enterprises, developers and research organizations access to advanced computing resources hosted locally rather than relying primarily on overseas cloud platforms.


Building Sovereign AI Infrastructure in Africa

The project is designed to address growing demand for high-performance computing as organizations increasingly develop and deploy AI models requiring substantial GPU capacity. By hosting infrastructure in South Africa, the partners aim to reduce latency, improve data sovereignty and offer organizations greater control over where sensitive information and AI workloads are processed. The initiative also reflects broader efforts across Africa to expand domestic digital infrastructure capable of supporting increasingly compute-intensive AI applications.

Stratos Lab will operate the service layer of the deployment, providing GPU-as-a-Service, bare-metal infrastructure, managed platform services and tools for AI model training and inference. The Johannesburg-based company describes itself as an AI-focused neocloud provider and also maintains operations in Dubai and Istanbul. Chief Executive Chris Mostert said the deployment would provide African companies and developers with local access to computing resources capable of supporting advanced AI development.

ECOBLOX Supports Infrastructure Deployment

ECOBLOX will contribute AI infrastructure integration, including GPU cluster design, hardware procurement, deployment and performance optimization. The Dubai-headquartered company will also provide data center infrastructure management and GPU cloud software intended to support the operation and scaling of the computing environment. ECOBLOX said its modular infrastructure approach is designed to shorten deployment timelines while addressing challenges including cooling requirements, power density and hardware availability.

Chief Executive Doug Makishima said the expansion of AI computing capacity requires changes in how high-density infrastructure is designed and deployed. He said the company would contribute its systems integration capabilities and AI infrastructure software to the project, alongside its experience managing large-scale computing environments. ECOBLOX operates across the Middle East, Europe and North America and works with hardware, software and capital partners on AI infrastructure projects.

Digital Parks Africa Provides Data Center Capacity

Digital Parks Africa will provide the physical data center environment supporting the GPU deployment, including power infrastructure, colocation services and connectivity. The South African data center operator runs carrier-neutral facilities designed to support enterprise, high-performance computing and AI workloads requiring high levels of power and cooling. Its role will be particularly important because the density of modern GPU clusters creates significant demands on electrical systems, cooling infrastructure and operational reliability.

Chief Executive Menno Parsons said the company would provide the resilient physical environment needed to operate the planned NVIDIA B300 clusters while keeping data hosted within the region. The companies argue that local hosting could help organizations comply with data residency requirements while reducing dependence on international computing infrastructure. Maintaining compute resources within Africa could also lower network latency for companies running AI applications across regional markets.

Giga Computing Supplies GPU Servers

Giga Computing, part of Taiwan-based GIGABYTE Group, will provide the GPU-focused servers supporting the cloud platform. The company specializes in high-performance server systems and works with chipmakers including NVIDIA, AMD and Intel to build infrastructure for AI and other intensive computing workloads. Giga Computing said it would support the partnership through engineering resources, supply-chain coordination and production capacity.

The deployment will use NVIDIA's B300-generation accelerators, which are designed for demanding AI training and inference workloads. Stratos Lab intends to offer the resulting capacity through cloud services ranging from bare-metal access to managed platforms and agent-focused AI infrastructure. The companies have not disclosed the overall financial value of the deployment or a detailed timetable for when the full cluster will become operational.


The partnership between Stratos Lab, ECOBLOX and Digital Parks Africa represents a significant effort to expand advanced AI computing infrastructure within Africa as demand for GPU capacity continues to rise. Combining cloud orchestration, systems integration, high-density data center capacity and next-generation hardware, the project aims to create a locally hosted platform capable of supporting enterprise and research workloads at scale. If deployed as planned, the infrastructure could strengthen South Africa's position as an important regional hub for AI computing while giving African organizations greater access to high-performance resources closer to their operations.
