Wrtn Technologies, a prominent South Korean AI service platform, has successfully closed a Series C funding round of approximately 100 billion won ($72.2 million). This latest investment elevates the company's valuation to over 1 trillion won, officially granting it unicorn status. The funding marks a significant milestone, making Wrtn the first Korean AI service startup to achieve this valuation.

Strategic Investments and Investor Confidence

The funding round attracted new capital from Coreline Ventures and Eugene Asset Management, demonstrating strong market confidence in Wrtn's trajectory. Existing investors, including Goodwater Capital and the Korea Development Bank, also reaffirmed their support by participating in the round. This brings the company's total accumulated funding to an impressive 230 billion won ($166 million).

Osuke Honda, co-founder of Coreline Ventures, highlighted Wrtn's rapid monetization and ecosystem impact as key factors driving their investment. He expressed strong confidence in the team's capabilities and noted the company is quickly becoming a "global phenomenon". This endorsement from a Silicon Valley-based firm underscores Wrtn's significant international growth potential and market appeal.

Rapid Monetization and Global Market Penetration

Wrtn has demonstrated powerful monetization capabilities, particularly with its AI entertainment platform, OOC, launched in North America. The platform achieved over 10 billion won in monthly revenue within just three months of its May debut. This success signifies a major achievement where overseas sales have now surpassed domestic earnings for the company.

Driven by this explosive international growth, Wrtn projects its total revenue for the year will exceed 200 billion won. This figure represents a more than fourfold increase from the 47.1 billion won recorded in the previous year. The company plans to leverage the new capital to further accelerate this overseas expansion and enhance its service offerings.

Advancing User Safety and AI Ethics

Alongside its rapid commercial expansion, Wrtn is reinforcing its commitment to user protection and ethical AI development. The company recently established a user committee composed of external experts in AI ethics, philosophy, and law. This initiative aims to create a safer and more trustworthy environment for all users interacting with its platforms.

Specific safeguards are being prepared for its character chat platform, Crack, to protect its teenage user base. These enhanced policies will include time-use limits, stronger parental consent procedures, and lower spending caps. The company is also collaborating with industry organizations to establish self-regulatory guidelines for AI chatbot services, ensuring responsible innovation.

This successful funding round positions Wrtn Technologies to solidify its leadership in the AI service industry and pursue aggressive global growth. CEO Lee Se-young stated the company will focus on international expansion and service advancement to meet market expectations. The firm is committed to growing as a provider of safe, reliable, and innovative AI services worldwide.
