Bolzano-based procurement intelligence startup Soource has closed a €3 million seed funding round to accelerate the development of its AI-driven platform for supplier data and procurement automation. Founded in 2024 by Maicol Verzotto, Nazareno Mario Ciccarello, Silvia Chiarot, Serena Galli and Luca Taddeo, the company is building technology designed to help enterprise procurement teams work with cleaner, more complete and more reliable supplier information. The round was led by Vertis through the Vertis Venture 5 Scaleup fund, with participation from Tenity, 360 Capital and Club degli Investitori, bringing Soource’s total funding to more than €5 million since 2025.
Funding and Strategic Focus
Soource plans to use the new capital to strengthen its position in Italy’s procurement intelligence market while preparing for expansion across major European markets. The investment comes just over a year after the company entered the market, a period in which it has moved from early adoption to enterprise use across several major industries. The timing reflects growing demand from large organizations for tools that can reduce manual procurement work, improve supplier visibility and turn fragmented vendor data into structured intelligence.
Platform and Technology
At the core of Soource’s platform is a proprietary international database built around verified and certified supplier data, which forms the foundation for its automation layer. The company applies a system of specialized AI agents to support procurement workflows such as supplier discovery, qualification, comparison, outreach, enrichment and ongoing monitoring. By combining data infrastructure with automation, Soource aims to shift procurement from a “copilot” model, where AI mainly assists users, toward an “autopilot” model, where recurring tasks can be executed automatically while keeping reliable data at the center of decision-making.
Market Traction and Team Expansion
Soource says its platform is already being used by organizations operating in utilities, pharmaceuticals, energy, insurance, food, industrial production and construction. That early customer base gives the startup a foothold in sectors where procurement teams often manage complex supplier networks, compliance requirements and large volumes of operational data. The company currently has a 17-person team based at NOI Techpark in Bolzano and plans to double its headcount by the end of 2027 as it scales product development and commercial activity.
Investor Confidence
Investors backing the round pointed to the role of high-quality data as a central requirement for effective AI in procurement. Vertis highlighted Soource’s proprietary infrastructure, its ability to automate operationally intensive supplier-management tasks and the team’s execution in winning major customers in a short period. Tenity emphasized the opportunity to digitize a procurement sector that remains underdeveloped in many areas, while 360 Capital said Soource is becoming a reference point for supplier intelligence in the Italian market.
The seed round gives Soource additional resources to advance its platform, expand its team and pursue a broader European growth strategy. Its focus on verified supplier data and specialized AI agents places the company in a market where enterprises are looking for more predictive, data-driven and automated procurement systems. If Soource can convert its early enterprise traction into repeatable growth across Europe, the company could become a notable player in the emerging category of AI-powered procurement intelligence.
