Stockholm-based Solace Care, a digital platform for legacy planning and post-loss support, has successfully secured €2.1 million in a pre-seed funding round. The investment was led by Spintop Ventures and will fuel the company's mission to transform the end-of-life experience for families. This funding follows a period of remarkable growth, with the company already covering over 25,000 lives across the Nordic region since its launch in 2025.

Redefining Life Insurance Support

Solace Care is challenging the traditional life insurance model, which typically ends its support with a financial payout, leaving families to navigate complex administration alone. The company aims to redefine personal insurance by providing continuous practical and emotional support long after a claim is paid. This approach transforms a financial product into an essential service for families during a difficult time, as stated by CEO Valtteri Korkiakoski.

A Proactive Planning and Guidance Tool

The platform offers a comprehensive service for both proactive planning and post-loss administration. Policyholders can use a digital vault to organize important documents, record final wishes, and share instructions with their loved ones before a loss occurs. Afterward, the service guides the family through every necessary administrative step, combining digital tools with human support to ease the burden of settling an estate.

Demonstrating Strong Market Demand

Since launching in mid-2025, Solace Care has shown impressive market traction, expanding its coverage to over 25,000 individuals across Sweden, Finland, and Norway. This rapid adoption was achieved not through marketing but through strategic partnerships with insurers and brokers. The strong positive response from their customers highlights a clear demand for more holistic end-of-life solutions that support the entire family.

Experienced Founders Lead the Way

The company is led by founders Valtteri Korkiakoski and Josef Karakoca, who bring a proven track record in scaling digital ventures. Both previously held executive positions at Mindler, one of Sweden's most successful digital healthcare companies, giving them deep operational expertise. Their background provides the credibility and experience needed to build a robust technology platform within the highly regulated insurance industry.

Backed by Industry Leaders

The €2.1 million round was led by Spintop Ventures, with participation from global InsurTech investor Plug and Play and Wave Ventures. Significantly, the funding also includes personal investments from a group of senior Nordic insurance executives, including former CEOs Caroline Farberger and Tomi Yli-Kyyny. This strong backing from industry insiders underscores confidence in Solace Care's vision and its ability to execute its strategy effectively.

Fueling Ambitious European Expansion

The newly acquired capital is earmarked for an ambitious European expansion strategy. Solace Care plans to deepen its existing partnerships with Nordic carriers while launching its services in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, where commercial advisors are already in place. The funds will also be used for key hires in product and commercial operations to scale the company's enterprise sales capabilities.

With this substantial pre-seed funding, Solace Care is well-positioned to accelerate its mission of integrating compassionate, practical support into the life insurance industry. The investment validates the company's innovative model and its potential to become a leader in the European end-of-life technology space. As Europe's population ages, the company aims to fundamentally change how society thinks about and prepares for death, making the process more manageable for everyone involved.
