Reykjavik-based SnerpaPower has successfully secured €3.4 million in a new funding round to fuel its expansion across Europe. The deep-tech company specializes in AI-powered energy management software for power-intensive industries, aiming to transform how they consume electricity. This strategic investment, led by Luxembourg's energy leader Encevo, will enhance the company's platform and broaden its market reach.

A New Paradigm for Industrial Energy Management

The European energy landscape is undergoing a significant transformation, making intelligent electricity management a critical competitive advantage. Power-intensive industries can no longer view electricity as a simple utility with a fixed operational cost. Instead, it has become a dynamic asset that can be planned, optimized, and even monetized.

The AI-Powered Solution

SnerpaPower addresses this challenge with its advanced AI-powered platform that connects industrial operations with electricity markets in real time. The software helps customers forecast their energy demand and predict when operational flexibility can be safely made available. It then automates the execution of complex electricity sourcing strategies, including Power Purchase Agreements.

This innovative approach enables clients to significantly reduce total power costs while improving their planning accuracy. By leveraging flexibility, companies can also generate new revenue streams without disrupting core production activities. SnerpaPower currently serves a range of clients, including aluminium producers, data centres, and power-to-X facilities throughout the Nordic region.

Strategic Investment for European Growth

The company's latest financing totals €3.4 million, comprising a €3 million seed investment and a €0.4 million Vöxtur grant from the Icelandic Technology Development Fund. The seed round was led by Encevo, a key player in Luxembourg’s energy transition. Existing investors Crowberry Capital and BackingMinds also demonstrated their continued confidence by participating in the round.

"Power-intensive industries can no longer treat electricity as a fixed operating cost," stated Íris Baldursdóttir, CEO and co-founder of SnerpaPower. "Companies that can adapt to changing market and grid conditions gain a significant competitive advantage. This investment allows us to bring that capability to many more industrial companies across Europe."

Investor Confidence and Market Validation

Martin Wienands, Venture Partner at Encevo, emphasized the importance of digital innovation in the ongoing energy transition. He noted that SnerpaPower's combination of deep industrial expertise and technology helps large consumers reduce costs and create a more flexible system. Encevo believes the team is exceptionally well-positioned to scale its solution across the continent.

The company has already achieved significant market validation, with its platform deployed across approximately 15 industrial sites in the Nordics. SnerpaPower's software actively manages more than 10 TWh of annual industrial consumption. This volume is equivalent to over one percent of all electricity consumed by industry in the European Union.

With this new capital, SnerpaPower is poised to accelerate its mission of making sophisticated electricity optimization simple for industrial customers. The funding will support its expansion into new European markets and further development of its forecasting and automation capabilities. As the energy sector continues to evolve, SnerpaPower's technology will play a crucial role in helping industries navigate complexity and enhance their competitiveness.
