Skycore Semiconductors has raised €5 million in seed funding to accelerate the rollout of its Power Integrated Circuit technology for next-generation AI data centers. The Denmark-based fabless chipmaker is positioning its platform as a solution to the mounting power infrastructure challenges created by rapidly growing AI compute demand. The new capital will support team growth, product development, manufacturing, and the path to large-scale commercial deployment.

Advancing Power ICs for AI Data Centers

Skycore focuses on Power IC solutions designed for applications that require very high power density and efficiency, particularly in cutting-edge AI facilities. Its platform has already been validated in silicon and is built around compact, flat form factors that help data center operators use space and energy more efficiently. By targeting the power stage of AI infrastructure, the company aims to remove one of the most pressing bottlenecks in scaling large AI clusters.

Scaling with 800V HVDC Architectures

AI data centers are increasingly moving toward 800V high-voltage direct current architectures to cope with rising power needs and to reduce transmission losses. Skycore’s Power IC technology is engineered to enable these architectures by delivering extreme power density and efficiency while maintaining a compact footprint. CEO and co-founder Pere Llimós Muntal argues that such HVDC systems represent a fundamental shift in data center power design and mark the first step in a broader transformation of compute infrastructure.

Backers and Strategic Positioning

The seed round was led by the Amadeus APEX Technology Fund, which is part of APEX Ventures, with participation from First Momentum Ventures, Mätch VC, and Balnord. Their backing underscores growing investor conviction that power electronics will be a critical enabler for AI, not just a supporting component. Skycore has already assembled six patent families around its technology, signaling a push to build a defensible position in high-voltage power ICs for AI and other demanding applications.

Roadmap, Team Expansion, and Market Entry

Skycore currently operates with an eight-person team and plans to scale headcount in a focused and gradual way as it moves closer to commercial launch. The company is preparing its first products for market introduction and intends to work closely with strategic partners in the data center ecosystem. Its goal is to ensure that new power architectures can be deployed at scale without sacrificing reliability, efficiency, or the ability to adapt to future AI workloads.

With this €5 million seed round, Skycore Semiconductors is aiming to establish itself as a key player in the power infrastructure that underpins AI data centers. By combining silicon-proven Power IC technology with a clear focus on 800V HVDC architectures, the company is addressing one of the central engineering challenges in AI’s next growth phase. If it executes on its roadmap, Skycore could help define how high-voltage power systems are designed and deployed across AI data centers and other high-power environments in the years ahead.
