Seraphim Space Investment Trust has announced its first capital deployment from a recent major fundraise, investing a combined $28.6 million. The London-listed fund allocated the capital to two of its existing portfolio companies, Pixxel and Zeno Power. This move marks the initial use of proceeds from its successful £137 million C Share fundraising initiative.

Advancing Earth Observation with AI

The larger portion of the investment, totaling $25 million, has been directed to hyperspectral imaging specialist Pixxel. The company is developing a high-resolution satellite constellation paired with its proprietary AI analytics platform, Aurora. This technology provides clients with unprecedented data insights by capturing information across hundreds of spectral bands.

Pixxel's advanced capabilities serve a diverse range of sectors, including agriculture, mining, energy, and sovereign defence. Its platform can identify material signatures that are invisible to standard satellite imagery, enhancing environmental monitoring and security. Since its initial backing, the company has expanded into satellite manufacturing and secured major government contracts.

Powering the Final Frontier

Zeno Power received a follow-on investment of $3.6 million to advance its innovative energy solutions. The US-based firm develops commercial radioisotope power systems, essentially creating long-lasting nuclear batteries. These systems are engineered to supply continuous power in extreme environments where solar energy is impractical.

The technology is critical for future space missions, such as powering equipment during the two-week lunar night. Beyond space, Zeno's systems are targeted for maritime and defence infrastructure, including seabed sensor networks. The company already holds significant contracts with NASA, the US Navy, and the US Space Force.

Strategic Vision and Market Position

Mark Boggett, CEO of Seraphim Space Manager, emphasized the strategic alignment of these investments with key industry trends. He noted that Pixxel is advancing AI-powered Earth observation while Zeno operates at the convergence of nuclear power and defence. Both companies are positioned to capitalize on the growing importance of the global space economy.

This deployment is a significant milestone following the fund's £137 million C Share equity raise completed in May. The fund manager expressed confidence in deploying the remaining capital across an attractive pipeline of opportunities. SSIT remains on track to begin converting the C Shares into Ordinary Shares following the end of the current quarter.

These strategic follow-on investments underscore Seraphim's commitment to nurturing high-growth companies within its portfolio. By backing leaders in next-generation Earth observation and advanced power systems, the fund reinforces its position in the evolving SpaceTech market. The move signals strong confidence in the long-term potential of both Pixxel and Zeno Power to redefine their respective fields.
