Saudi-based retail technology startup Raff has successfully closed a $1.7 million pre-seed funding round to enhance its platform connecting digital brands with physical retailers. The investment was led by Vision Ventures with participation from notable firms like 500 Global, Palm VC, and Oqal Group. This capital injection will accelerate the company's mission of streamlining the complex process for online businesses to establish a brick-and-mortar presence.
Funding to Fuel Regional Growth
The newly acquired funds will be strategically deployed to support Raff's expansion across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. A significant portion of the investment is also dedicated to accelerating product development and strengthening the platform's artificial intelligence capabilities. Founded in 2024 by Ali Al Qudah and Abdul Kareem Munla, the company is now positioned to scale its innovative retail solutions.
Bridging the Online-to-Offline Retail Gap
While launching an e-commerce business has become increasingly accessible, expanding into physical retail presents significant operational hurdles for many brands. The process often involves navigating fragmented logistics, multiple commercial agreements, and time-consuming onboarding with each retailer. Raff directly addresses this challenge within the GCC's retail market, which is valued at more than $300 billion annually.
A Unified Platform for Commerce
Raff provides an end-to-end technology platform that digitizes key commercial operations for consumer brands and retailers. The system simplifies distribution, inventory management, order fulfillment, and payments, making it easier for brands to manage their offline expansion. For retailers, the platform automates critical workflows and simplifies vendor management, allowing them to focus more on business growth.
A key feature of the platform is its ability to integrate seamlessly with leading point-of-sale and accounting software prevalent in the region. This connectivity allows retailers to manage their growing network of suppliers through a single, connected system. Such integration is crucial for creating a new layer of efficiency in the regional commerce ecosystem.
Investor Confidence and Strategic Vision
Ali Al Qudah, Co-Founder and CEO of Raff, stated that the company's mission is to provide brands with a faster and more efficient way to reach offline customers. He emphasized that the investment enables the team to accelerate this vision and build the infrastructure for the next generation of retail. This focus on solving a firsthand problem has resonated strongly with the investment community.
Kais Al-Essa, CEO of lead investor Vision Ventures, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the team's high-execution caliber. He noted a parallel between Raff's role in the online-to-offline shift and his firm's earlier investment in Salla, which supported the offline-to-online transition. This strategic backing signals strong confidence in Raff's potential to reshape regional retail logistics.
With this substantial pre-seed funding, Raff is well-equipped to build upon its early success, which already includes serving over 900 brands across nine countries. The company's immediate focus will be on deepening its market penetration in the GCC and advancing its technological capabilities. As omnichannel strategies become standard for consumer businesses, Raff is poised to become an essential infrastructure layer connecting digital-first brands with the expansive world of physical retail.
