Samsung has committed US$1 billion to Helix Digital Infrastructure, an AI infrastructure company formed by KKR to help meet the growing needs of hyperscalers. The announcement, made by Helix and KKR, builds on more than US$10 billion of capital already committed to the Helix strategy at launch. Founding investors include KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA, and Vistra.

Expanding Long-Duration Capital

The new commitment provides additional long-duration capital to support Helix's strategy of investing in and delivering data centers, power, connectivity, and related infrastructure. Helix was created in response to a generational infrastructure buildout driven by artificial intelligence. The company uses an integrated approach that combines capital, infrastructure expertise, and capabilities across the critical components needed to support AI growth.

Samsung's Strategic Capabilities

Helix expects to explore opportunities to leverage Samsung's capabilities in advanced technology, construction, energy storage, and cooling. These capabilities are intended to support the development and delivery of AI infrastructure at scale. Samsung's involvement follows the roles of NVIDIA in full-stack technology and AI infrastructure, and Vistra in power.

Leadership Perspective

Adam Selipsky, CEO and Co-Founder of Helix, described Samsung's commitment as a strong vote of confidence in the company's strategy. He said the investment deepens the long-term capital base required to meet the scale of AI infrastructure demand. Selipsky also noted that Samsung brings unique capabilities that are expected to benefit Helix and its customers.

Samsung's Relevant Expertise

The Samsung group's involvement spans several units with direct relevance to data center and power infrastructure. Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions Division provides semiconductor technology, while the Device Experience Division offers data center cooling products through FläktGroup, acquired in 2025. Samsung C&T brings 50 years of global engineering and construction experience, Samsung SDS designs and operates data centers, and Samsung SDI supplies uninterruptible power supplies and battery backup units.

Samsung's Global Footprint

Samsung Electronics' Device Experience Division operates 14 production sites worldwide and a supply and service network across 65 countries. This global presence supports rapid capacity expansion for hyperscalers. Samsung SDS designs, builds, and operates data centers, and it has expanded into the GPUaaS business with the lowest Power Usage Effectiveness level in Korea.

Market Context and KKR's Footprint

AI is driving a generational infrastructure buildout, creating unprecedented demand from hyperscalers for partners that can solve increasingly complex infrastructure needs at scale and speed. Globally, KKR has invested over US$75 billion across digital infrastructure and power. The firm has been present in Korea since 2009 and has invested approximately US$9 billion across its strategies in the country.

About Helix Digital Infrastructure

Helix Digital Infrastructure is focused on investing in, delivering, and managing the next generation of AI-enabling infrastructure. The company was founded with anchor investors including KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA, and Vistra, and it has access to a long-duration, multi-billion-dollar pool of capital. Led by Adam Selipsky, former CEO of Amazon Web Services, Helix aims to deliver integrated solutions across hyperscale data centers, power generation and transmission, fiber, connectivity, and related infrastructure.

Samsung's US$1 billion commitment reinforces Helix's position as a well-capitalized platform for AI infrastructure investment. It also highlights the growing alignment between global technology, power, and investment leaders in addressing the infrastructure bottleneck behind artificial intelligence. As Helix deploys capital across North America and worldwide, the collaboration with Samsung could support faster delivery of the data centers and power systems that hyperscalers urgently require.
