Salpha Energy, a female-led Nigerian clean energy startup, has secured a $1.3 million investment from All On, an impact investor backed by Shell. The funding is set to support the expansion of the company's solar assembly operations and extend energy access to underserved communities across Nigeria. This milestone positions Salpha Energy to further its mission of making clean, reliable electricity accessible to millions living off-grid.

A Vision Rooted in Local Empowerment

Founded by Sandra Chukwudozie, Salpha Energy is among the few solar companies in Sub-Saharan Africa operating a female-led solar home system assembly plant. The startup’s local manufacturing approach ensures tighter control over product quality while fostering job creation within the region. By assembling products domestically, Salpha is reshaping how solar energy systems are designed and distributed in Africa.

Funding to Catalyze Growth and Innovation

The newly secured funding will be used to scale Salpha’s operations, expand its product range, and strengthen its local production capacity. Salpha’s solar solutions include fully integrated systems ranging from 150Wp to 100kWp, often equipped with battery storage and smart inverters. These systems have already impacted more than two million Nigerians, and the company aims to significantly broaden its reach with the new investment.

Addressing the Currency Challenge in Local Manufacturing

The investment from All On is notable for being made in local currency, helping mitigate a common financial barrier in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector—the currency mismatch risk. This financial structure not only stabilizes Salpha’s growth prospects but also reflects All On’s broader mission of supporting indigenous solutions to Nigeria’s energy deficit. By focusing on local innovators, All On seeks to create scalable and sustainable energy solutions for low-income households and small businesses.

Powering More Than Just Homes

For Salpha Energy, electrification goes beyond simply powering homes; it’s about unlocking dignity, productivity, and economic opportunity for millions. With over 600 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa still without reliable access to electricity, the company views clean energy as a gateway to broader social and economic development. Chukwudozie emphasized that the capital raise marks a transformative step toward energy independence designed and delivered from within the continent.

Backing a Bold Clean Tech Vision

All On’s CEO, Caroline Eboumbou, highlighted Salpha’s pioneering role in not just energy delivery but also in leading the charge on local manufacturing in clean tech. The startup represents a new wave of innovation led by women and rooted in community impact, job creation, and sustainability. This investment, she noted, exemplifies how indigenous companies can effectively bridge critical infrastructure gaps while empowering local industries.

Accelerating Toward Universal Energy Access

With this funding, Salpha Energy is poised to accelerate the transition to off-grid solar solutions across Nigeria and, eventually, other parts of Africa. The company’s locally assembled, turnkey solar systems offer a scalable model for addressing energy poverty through technology tailored to regional needs. As Salpha continues to grow, its model offers a blueprint for combining innovation, gender inclusion, and localized manufacturing in Africa’s energy transition.

Salpha Energy’s latest funding round signals a growing confidence in Africa’s homegrown clean energy solutions and the leadership of women in the sector. By investing in both infrastructure and community, the company is driving tangible progress toward a future where energy access is no longer a privilege but a basic right. With strong backing and a clear vision, Salpha Energy is lighting the way for millions more across the continent.
