Repodo, a newly established audit firm based in Copenhagen, has announced an €8.2 million pre-seed funding round led by Hedosophia and Seed Capital. The company was founded by former Lunar executives Ken Villum Klausen, Peter Andreasen and Joachim Strøjer Hansen, alongside auditor Anders Houmann. Repodo is set to launch in Denmark in 2026 with an initial focus on small and medium-sized businesses and plans to expand across Europe.
An AI-native approach to statutory audit
Repodo is positioning itself as the first AI-native authorised audit firm, with technology built into its core rather than added to existing workflows. The platform automates much of the repetitive preparation involved in audit, including data collection, reconciliations, documentation and transaction analysis. Qualified auditors retain full responsibility for professional judgement, oversight and final sign-off.
The service is intended to reduce the manual burden that statutory audit places on businesses, making the process faster and more affordable. Clients spend less time gathering materials and responding to routine requests while auditors can focus on risk, exceptions and complex issues. Repodo argues that this approach offers a genuine alternative to established audit houses.
The platform does not replace auditors, but it changes where they spend their time. Repetitive preparation and processing are handled by technology, allowing professionals to focus on exceptions, complex issues and client conversations that require experience. This structure is intended to preserve trust while making audits faster, more transparent and less expensive for clients.
Market context and founder experience
The European audit market is valued at more than €80 billion annually, yet much of the innovation so far has focused on helping existing firms become more efficient. Repodo is instead rebuilding the operating model around artificial intelligence while preserving the professional accountability that audit requires. The founders believe this creates an opportunity to change the economics and customer experience of a very large industry.
Ken Villum Klausen, Peter Andreasen and Joachim Strøjer Hansen previously helped build and scale the Nordic digital bank Lunar as CEO, CFO and CPO respectively. Their experience in one of Europe's most heavily regulated financial services sectors is central to Repodo's positioning. They are joined by co-founder Anders Houmann, who brings specialist audit expertise to the leadership team.
Funding and European expansion
The €8.2 million pre-seed round, equivalent to more than 60 million Danish kroner, was led by Hedosophia and Seed Capital with participation from several prominent investors. The new capital will be used to develop the technology platform, build the team and support the company's launch in Denmark. Repodo has been designed from the outset to expand market by market across Europe.
Sarra Zayani, Partner at Hedosophia, said the team is not simply applying AI to an existing audit workflow. She noted that Repodo is rebuilding the operating model around technology while preserving the professional accountability audit requires. In her view, the founders combine first-hand experience in a highly regulated market with a clear understanding of how AI can change a large industry.
Repodo enters the Danish market at a time when many smaller companies find audit slow, administratively demanding and expensive, and some forgo it when not legally required. By lowering both price and practical barriers, the company aims to make audited financial statements more accessible and transparent. The combination of early funding and an experienced founding team signals a clear ambition to build a European audit firm for the AI era.
