Red Cat Holdings, a prominent U.S. provider of drone solutions for defense, has announced its acquisition of Quaze Technologies. The Québec-based firm specializes in advanced wireless power transfer technology for unmanned systems. This strategic move aims to overcome a significant barrier to robotic autonomy, enabling persistent operations for drones and robots in the field.


Addressing a Critical Operational Bottleneck

A primary challenge for true robotic autonomy has been the reliance on manual power solutions. Most unmanned systems require battery swaps or precise, connector-based charging, which are impractical in harsh environments. These methods create operational delays and increase risks for personnel in contested zones.

Quaze Technologies directly addresses this issue with its innovative QU6 electronic architecture. This system transforms large surfaces into wireless energy access points without needing physical connectors or exact alignment. Its robust design allows systems to recharge even when debris, sand, or ice is present, ensuring reliability.
