Paris-based trust infrastructure startup Prelude has secured $20 million in a Series A funding round led by 20VC. Founded by Zenly alumni Matias Berny and Quentin Le Bras, the company combats sophisticated digital fraud in the age of AI. This capital will fuel the expansion of its platform, which is designed to help businesses verify and protect users from automated threats.

Addressing a New Era of Digital Fraud

The digital landscape faces a challenge as traditional security like CAPTCHAs fail against advanced bots and AI agents. This rise in sophisticated fraud, from fake signups to SMS pumping, threatens business integrity and revenue. Founders Matias Berny and Quentin Le Bras used their experience scaling Zenly to build a modern solution to address these evolving threats.

Prelude initially focused on phone verification fraud, attracting clients like BeReal, Suno, and Voodoo with its effective approach. This success revealed a broader market need for a more integrated system for establishing user trust. The company therefore evolved from a single-point solution to a comprehensive platform addressing the entire user onboarding journey.

Evolving into a Comprehensive Trust Platform

In a major expansion, Prelude has launched a full suite of products, including Prelude Auth and an Intel API. This transforms the company from a verification tool into a holistic onboarding and trust infrastructure. The platform replaces the disconnected patchwork of tools many companies use, offering a single system for managing user identity securely.

The platform operates by combining telecom data, behavioral signals, and machine learning to build a robust trust profile for each user. By analyzing indicators like network fingerprints, Prelude distinguishes legitimate users from malicious actors without creating friction. This background verification ensures a seamless experience for real customers while blocking fraud before it can cause harm.

Securing Strategic Investment for Growth

The $20 million Series A round brings Prelude's total funding to $27 million, providing resources for its next growth phase. The investment was led by 20VC, with support from partners like Singular, Seedcamp, and Deel. This backing validates the company's vision and its recent success, which includes 6x revenue growth over the past year.

Further endorsing Prelude's mission is a roster of angel investors from tech companies like Revolut, Grindr, and Pennylane. Their participation underscores the critical need for secure user verification in high-growth consumer and fintech applications. This industry validation signals strong confidence in Prelude's ability to set a new standard for digital trust management.

Future Plans and International Expansion

Prelude will use the new funds to deepen its partnerships with global telecommunication carriers, enhancing its data intelligence capabilities. The company will also invest heavily in its machine learning models that power real-time trust assessments. These investments are crucial for improving the accuracy and speed of its fraud detection systems as online threats evolve.

A key focus for the company is accelerating its expansion into the United States, where it already serves several large clients. To support this international push and overall growth, Prelude intends to hire approximately 30 new team members. This strategic scaling will position the company to capture a larger share of the global trust infrastructure market.

With its successful $20 million funding and expanded product suite, Prelude is strongly positioned to redefine the digital trust landscape. The company's integrated platform offers a powerful defense against the next generation of AI-driven fraud. By providing businesses with tools to ensure every user interaction is legitimate, Prelude is building essential infrastructure for secure growth.
