Egyptian climate tech startup Plstka has secured a six-figure investment round led by Empire Angels Bridge as part of a broader $1 million commitment to strengthen its presence in the Delta region. The funding marks a key milestone for the company, which has built a gamified recycling app to transform waste management in Egypt. By leveraging artificial intelligence and a fully integrated ERP system, Plstka is aiming to drive both environmental and social impact.
Technology-Driven Waste Management
Founded in 2021, Plstka created a mobile platform that rewards users for recycling through a gamified loyalty system. The solution connects households and businesses with recycling services, digitizing the supply chain to maximize efficiency. Through AI-powered optimization, the platform ensures scalability while integrating directly with enterprise resource planning tools for waste logistics.
Expansion Across Delta Cities
Plstka is already operational in four Delta cities—Tanta, El-Mahalla El-Kubra, Mansoura, and Shebin El-Kom—where it has attracted more than 60,000 app users. The company reports recycling over 1,500 tons of solid waste to date, reflecting its growing role in environmental sustainability. From 2024 to 2025, it recorded a 25 percent business growth rate, translating into $1.3 million in revenues.
Ambitious Growth Plans
With its new round of investment, Plstka plans to expand into six additional cities across the Delta and Upper Egypt, including Kafr El-Sheikh, Zagazig, Port Said, Damietta, Minya, and Assiut. The company projects its user base will grow to more than 250,000 while doubling its recycling capacity to over 3,000 tons. This expansion is designed to establish Plstka as a dominant force in Egypt’s recycling and climate tech landscape.
Founders’ Vision and Leadership
The startup was founded by Ahmed Elnagar, who also serves as CEO, along with co-founders Mahmoud Mazrou and Saaeda Mohmed. Their shared vision centers on making waste management accessible, efficient, and rewarding through technology. By combining entrepreneurship with environmental responsibility, the team is positioning Plstka as a model for climate-focused innovation in emerging markets.
Backing From Supporters
Empire Angels Bridge, which led the investment round, views Plstka as a strong candidate to capture the rapidly growing sustainability market in Egypt. Industry supporters such as Dr. Tamer Ahmed and Dr. Maged Ghoneima have also played an important role in enabling the company’s progress. Their backing highlights the momentum building in Egypt’s climate tech ecosystem, where private capital and institutional support are increasingly converging.
Plstka’s funding round underscores the rising investor confidence in Egypt’s climate innovation sector. By combining gamification, AI, and scalable waste management, the company is poised to expand its impact across new regions while engaging citizens in sustainable practices. As it grows, Plstka aims to play a central role in reshaping how Egypt manages solid waste and builds a cleaner future.
