PlannerPal, an AI workflow platform for financial advice and wealth management firms, has closed a US$6 million (approximately £4.3 million) funding round led by Mercia Ventures. Existing investor Ada Ventures, which led the company's Pre-Seed round in February 2024, also participated alongside a group of strategic fintech investors and angels. The new capital will accelerate engineering expansion, customer rollout, and client intelligence development.

Growth and Market Position

PlannerPal has scaled rapidly as financial advice firms move beyond standalone AI tools toward technology that works with existing client data and systems. The platform is now used by more than 250 UK advice firms, including 20% of the UK's top 20 wealth managers. PlannerPal supports firms responsible for approximately £150 billion of client assets and counts Canaccord Wealth, ValidPath, and Amber River among its customers.

Expansion into the Mortgage Market

PlannerPal has recently extended its reach beyond wealth management into the UK mortgage market. New client Charles Cameron, one of the country's largest independent mortgage brokers, highlights the company's broader applicability. Mortgage firms face similar productivity and compliance pressures, with client information spread across conversations, documents, and core systems, and they must demonstrate consistency and suitability at scale.

Technology and Integration Approach

PlannerPal began by removing administrative burdens tied to financial advice, including capturing client meetings, producing documentation, and updating adviser systems. Its growth has come from connecting information held across client conversations, documents, and core platforms. The company integrates with Iress, Intelliflo, Curo, Plannr, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and SharePoint, and is the only AI partner chosen for the Iress Partnership, with advisers able to launch it directly from Xplan using single sign-on.

Leadership Perspective

CEO and co-founder Mark Whitcroft said financial advice firms possess a large amount of valuable client information, but much of it remains fragmented across conversations, documents, and systems. He explained that removing manual data capture was the first AI opportunity, while the larger opportunity is making existing client data work more effectively. Whitcroft added that the company does not believe the answer is another disconnected AI tool sitting outside a firm's core systems.

Investor Confidence

Adam Lovell, Investment Director at Mercia Ventures, noted that advice firms have spent the past two years experimenting with AI and are now seeking experienced, trusted long-term partners. He said these firms want technology that aligns with their existing systems and client data rather than standalone tools. Lovell added that PlannerPal is building the client intelligence layer for UK financial advice and that clients often refer to the company as a partner.

Funding Priorities and Strategic Focus

The funding will support rapid expansion of PlannerPal's engineering and product teams, accelerate customer rollout, and advance its client intelligence capabilities. The company said it remains deliberately focused on the UK market while delivering the same opportunity to the mortgage sector. PlannerPal is changing the economics of financial advice by enabling advisers to serve more clients while providing a more personalized and proactive service.

PlannerPal's latest funding round underscores growing demand for AI solutions that integrate directly with existing workflows and client data in financial services. With a rapidly expanding customer base and a growing presence in both wealth management and mortgage markets, the company is well positioned to strengthen its role as a client intelligence layer for UK advice firms. The new capital should help PlannerPal deepen its partnerships, broaden its product capabilities, and continue improving adviser and client experiences.
