Ghent-based fintech startup Peaky has raised €1.1 million in seed funding to accelerate the commercial expansion of its AI-powered financial planning platform. The round was led by early-stage B2B SaaS investor JK Invest, with participation from imec.istart, Paris-based angel collective Super Capital, and around 15 Belgian angel investors. Peaky plans to use the financing to expand its development team, strengthen its product, and increase marketing as it targets broader European growth.

Building a More Responsive Finance System

Peaky was created to address the lag between operational changes inside a company and the moment those developments become visible in financial results. Traditional finance teams frequently rely on monthly or quarterly reporting cycles, meaning changes such as customer churn, staff departures, or declining sales performance may only become apparent after they have already affected the business. Peaky aims to shorten that delay by continuously connecting operational information with financial planning and forecasting.

The company was founded by CEO Ser Cappelle, CTO Guus De Graeve, COO Willem Vos, and CDO John-Alexander Kolmus, who previously worked across technology companies including Netlog, Twoo, Ablo, and Tinder. Cappelle developed the idea after spending years working as a freelance CFO for scale-ups, where he repeatedly encountered situations in which finance teams received critical operational information too late. His experience convinced the founders that companies needed a financial planning system capable of reacting continuously rather than waiting for formal reporting periods.

Connecting Business Data With Financial Planning

Peaky integrates with accounting platforms such as Exact Online, Yuki, and QuickBooks, alongside enterprise and customer relationship management systems including Odoo and SAP. It also connects with services such as Stripe and Chargebee, allowing financial plans to incorporate data from multiple areas of a company's operations. The platform uses those connections to maintain a dynamic financial model that reflects changes across the business as they occur.

External information can also be incorporated into the platform, including movements in foreign exchange rates and other factors that may affect company assumptions. When actual developments begin to diverge from the assumptions built into a financial plan, Peaky identifies the difference and estimates its potential financial impact. Finance teams can then assess the information and decide whether changes to budgets, forecasts, hiring plans, or other priorities are necessary.

Expanding the Role of AI in Finance

Peaky is developing AI agents that operate on top of the company's financial and operational data to automate increasingly complex finance tasks. The technology is designed to support activities including reporting, analysis, forecasting, and scenario planning while retaining the historical and operational context behind a company's financial model. Peaky describes its approach as combining the flexibility associated with spreadsheet-based financial planning with automated analysis and continuously updated business data.

The startup says this infrastructure can help finance teams move from retrospective reporting toward anticipating potential changes before they materially affect financial performance. Rather than replacing financial decision-making, the system is intended to surface relevant signals and explain how those developments could affect future results. The company ultimately wants finance departments to operate with a continuously updated view of business performance instead of relying primarily on periodic reporting cycles.

Funding European Expansion

Peaky will use the new capital to recruit additional developers, continue developing its platform, and increase its commercial and marketing activities. JK Invest led the seed round, while existing supporter imec.istart participated again alongside Super Capital and Belgian angel investors including Aikido's Roeland Delrue and Delaware's Thierry Bruyneel. The startup currently serves companies including Aikido, Tout Bien, Mobility Plus, The Harbour, and Proplanner.

Founded approximately 18 months ago, Peaky is positioning itself as a European alternative in a financial planning technology market that the company says remains heavily dominated by US providers. The startup was also named Best FinTech Startup of the Year by Fintech Belgium in 2026, giving the young company additional visibility within Belgium's technology ecosystem. Management now intends to build on that momentum by expanding its customer base and establishing the platform across additional European markets.

Peaky's €1.1 million seed round gives the company additional resources to develop its AI-driven approach to financial planning and accelerate its expansion beyond Belgium. By integrating financial models with continuously changing operational and external data, the startup aims to give finance teams earlier visibility into developments that may affect company performance. Its next phase will focus on product development, recruitment, and commercial growth as Peaky works toward becoming a broader financial planning infrastructure provider for European businesses.
