Outsight has acquired the aviation business of GRASP Aviation Innovations, combining real-time spatial intelligence with decision and control algorithms for airport security checkpoints. Announced on October 7, 2026, the acquisition creates a system that can measure, predict, and act on passenger flow every second. It extends Outsight's aviation footprint while GRASP's non-aviation activities continue as Reassurance Technologies.
A Checkpoint That Adapts in Real Time
Security checkpoints are among the most constrained spaces in any airport, with passenger arrivals changing minute by minute and lane performance varying continuously. Outsight's Spatial Intelligence Platform and GRASP's algorithms give airports a checkpoint that adjusts to its own flow throughout the day. The combined solution supports smart queue guidance, passenger guidance, dynamic queue control, load balancing, and forecast-driven decisions.
The system recalculates operational guidance every second while security staff retain full manual control from a central terminal, tablets, or switches next to the gates. This approach balances passenger loads across lanes, reduces peak congestion, and limits bottlenecks. Staff previously assigned to distribute passengers by hand can be redeployed to higher-value tasks, while travelers experience shorter walks and less waiting.
Proven Deployment and 3D Precision
GRASP's technology is already used in daily operation at several major European airports, including one leading hub where it is deployed across nine security lanes. Historically, the algorithms relied on legacy technologies such as stereovision and lane radars. These sources are now replaced by Outsight's Spatial Intelligence Platform, which uses 3D LiDAR data fused with boarding pass information, flight schedules, and lane equipment.
The result is a Motional Digital Twin of the entire checkpoint, from the queue entrance to the exit of each lane. Outsight's aviation footprint already covers more than 280 million annual passengers under real-time measurement. This foundation provides the accurate and complete view that GRASP's algorithms require for responsive checkpoint management.
From Ambient Intelligence to Physical AI
In July 2026, Gartner named Outsight a leading vendor for Ambient Intelligence in its Hype Cycle for Physical AI, making it the only 3D-native software company cited in that category. Gartner defines Ambient Intelligence as smart physical environments that are sensitive, responsive, and adaptive to people, things, and the environment. The acquisition extends Outsight along that path, making the checkpoint sensitive through spatial intelligence and both responsive and adaptive through GRASP's algorithms.
Raul Bravo, President and Founder of Outsight, said the combined technology gives airports a live understanding of movement across the terminal and allows intelligence to act directly on checkpoint decisions. Constantijn Viezee, CEO of GRASP Aviation Innovations, said the company built GRASP to help security checkpoints organize themselves by guiding passengers to the right lane at the right moment. Both emphasized that algorithm performance depends directly on the quality of the data feeding the system.
Industry Recognition and Availability
Outsight has received honors including the Terminal Excellence Innovation Award at Inter Airport Europe, the Airport Technology Award, the CES Best of Innovation Award, and the Frost & Sullivan Global Technology Innovation Leadership Award. The company has also been named in Sifted's B2B SaaS Rising 100. Airports such as Singapore Changi, Rome Fiumicino, Paris Airports, and major hubs in North and South America rely on the security-certified platform, which holds ISO 27001, SOC 2, TISAX, ENS, and BASt certifications.
The combined solution is available today to airports worldwide, supported by Outsight offices in Paris, San Francisco, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Customers receive support from an enterprise-grade technical team operating 24 hours a day in a follow-the-sun approach. The acquisition covers GRASP's aviation business, while all non-aviation activities continue as Reassurance Technologies.
For airport operators, the acquisition signals a shift from passive measurement to active, autonomous checkpoint management. Combining 3D perception with real-time decision algorithms aims to improve passenger flow, staff allocation, and terminal efficiency. The system is available now, reflecting Outsight's strategy to bring Physical AI from understanding environments to acting inside them.
