Bengaluru-based identity and access management startup OTPless has appointed Geetanshu Singla as its new Chief Technology Officer. Singla is a former Vice President of Technology at BharatPe and previously co-founded the senior lifestyle platform Genwise. In his new role, he will oversee engineering, product development, platform architecture, reliability, and security across the company's authentication and fraud prevention stack.
Leadership Mandate and Experience
Singla brings significant experience from BharatPe, where he worked closely with OTPless co-founders Satyam Nathani and Tanmay Sagar during the fintech's early growth. After leaving BharatPe in 2023, he co-founded Genwise, a lifestyle app for senior citizens that raised a US$3.5 million Seed round before shutting down. He most recently held an engineering leadership role at Singapore-based wealthtech platform Syfe before joining OTPless.
Authentication and Fraud Prevention Stack
OTPless provides authentication and identity infrastructure for consumer internet companies, with offerings that include Silent Network Authentication, WhatsApp authentication, device intelligence, and passkeys. The platform is designed to reduce reliance on SMS-based one-time passwords, PINs, and passwords while helping businesses identify users and prevent fraud. Singla will be responsible for ensuring these systems remain reliable and secure at scale.
Recent Leadership Changes
Singla takes charge nearly ten months after Anubhav Mathur stepped down from the CTO role in January. His appointment follows a series of senior leadership changes at OTPless. On September 18, the company elevated Nathani to Chief Executive Officer and Sagar to Chief Operating Officer after co-founder Bhavik Koladiya stepped down as CEO, and on October 1 it named early team member Manas Poddar as Chief Business Officer.
Growth and User Adoption
OTPless claims to authenticate more than 300 million users across consumer platforms such as Meesho, Zepto, Navi, PhysicsWallah, ShareChat, Shiprocket, and ixigo. The startup has grown its topline 2.5 times over the past year to ₹360 million in annualized revenue and has been break-even for the past two quarters. This momentum highlights the growing demand for seamless and secure authentication among India's largest digital businesses.
Funding and Market Opportunity
The company has raised more than US$6 million from investors including Venture Highway, White Venture, FJ Labs, SIDBI, and Piper Serica. OTPless serves consumer internet businesses that need scalable authentication for sign-ups and transactions. The Indian identity and access management market is projected to become a US$1.7 billion opportunity by 2030.
Executive Commentary
OTPless COO Tanmay Sagar said that for India's largest consumer platforms, login is the front door to the entire business, and a failed or slow authentication can mean a lost customer. He added that Singla has built and run technology at unicorn scale, which strengthens the technical trust customers place in OTPless. Singla described joining OTPless as coming back home and highlighted the company's expansion from OTP authentication to a broader identity and trust layer as a significant opportunity.
With Singla's appointment, OTPless aims to strengthen its engineering leadership as it expands its identity and access management offerings. The company's recent leadership changes and continued revenue growth position it to capture a larger share of India's fast-growing authentication market. Its focus on reliable, scalable, and passwordless authentication aligns with the needs of large consumer platforms seeking to reduce friction and prevent fraud.
