OneQode, Hitachi Vantara, and Cylix Applied Intelligence have announced a multimillion-dollar strategic alliance to launch the Sovereign AI Factory initiative. This collaboration will deploy sovereign-ready artificial intelligence infrastructure across key global markets, starting with Australia, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore. The initiative aims to empower governments and enterprises with advanced AI capabilities while ensuring full control over data and regulatory compliance.

Addressing the Demand for Data Sovereignty

The partnership directly addresses a significant rise in demand for data sovereignty, particularly within government and critical infrastructure sectors. Organizations increasingly recognize data as a critical national asset that requires protection from foreign intervention and control. This initiative provides a robust framework for deploying AI securely within national borders, mitigating catastrophic risks to intellectual property and critical systems.

Nathan Knight, Vice President and Managing Director for Hitachi Vantara in Australia and New Zealand, noted this growing trend. He stated that over half of enterprise tenders in Australia now specify sovereign-capable solutions as a critical requirement. This shift reflects a broader understanding that data sovereignty is as crucial as operational resilience and security for modern enterprises.

A Trifecta of Expertise

OneQode provides the foundational physical infrastructure for the alliance, leveraging its expertise from the demanding gaming and financial services industries. The company delivers high-performance GPU compute, energy, facilities, and a low-latency global network backbone. CEO Matt Shearing emphasized the strong demand across the Global South for sovereign AI infrastructure built to these exacting standards.

Hitachi Vantara contributes its validated AI infrastructure platform, Hitachi iQ, which is central to the solution's architecture. This platform integrates accelerated compute, networking, and storage to ensure data remains close to where it is processed for optimal performance. This component is crucial for building the high-powered data foundation that modern AI workloads demand for efficient operation.

Completing the solution, Cylix Applied Intelligence architects and operates the AI layer, transforming the infrastructure into a functional service. The company provides everything from readiness assessments to fully managed production AI services, ensuring workloads are optimized and governed. Ross DiStefano, Senior Vice President at Cylix, highlighted that their role is to operationalize AI at scale for real business value.

Global Ambitions with a Regional Focus

The Sovereign AI Factory initiative begins its global rollout in the Asia-Pacific region, with Australia, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore selected for the initial phase. This strategic deployment targets key markets where data security and digital sovereignty are paramount for continued economic growth. The alliance has also identified the United States as a key market for future expansion of its services.

This strategic alliance between OneQode, Hitachi Vantara, and Cylix Applied Intelligence represents a significant step forward in the global AI landscape. By combining their distinct expertise, the partners are delivering a turnkey platform that enables secure, compliant, and scalable sovereign AI adoption. The initiative is poised to accelerate digital transformation for enterprises and bolster national security for governments across the globe.
