Nearby Computing, a Barcelona-based deeptech company focused on distributed cloud-to-edge orchestration, has secured a €680,000 investment from the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation, known as SETT. The capital forms part of a broader €1.4 million financing operation and will accelerate development of the company's NearbyOne platform. The funding was executed through the Next Tech facility, which supports deep-tech startups and scale-ups under Spain's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

The investment will support Nearby Computing's continued growth and the development of NearbyOne, its control plane for managing and orchestrating distributed cloud-to-edge environments from a single unified platform. Josep Marti, Chief Executive Officer of Nearby Computing, said fragmented infrastructure is one of the biggest hidden costs in enterprise IT today and that orchestration is becoming essential for many organisations. SETT's participation reflects public backing for advanced technology companies within Spain's strategic digital and industrial ecosystem.

NearbyOne allows organisations to manage fragmentation from one central control plane rather than stitching together separate tools for each domain, using policy-based automation for provisioning, updating and maintaining infrastructure. The platform is vendor-agnostic by design, orchestrating workloads across any hardware vendor, cloud provider, network infrastructure or AI stack while allowing future vendor changes without complex migrations. Resilience is built into the architecture, so critical workloads continue running locally at the edge when connectivity or central cloud access is disrupted.

Nearby Computing was founded in Barcelona in 2018 by Josep Martí and David Carrera as a spin-off from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. It previously raised a €6.5 million Series A round in July 2024, backed by Walter Ventures, JME Ventures, Telefónica via Wayra Ventures, Akamai Technologies, Cellnex Telecom and Lenovo. The current transaction was carried out through Spain's Next Tech facility, funded by the country's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan using European Union Next Generation Funds.
