MOVEMENTS, a Spanish platform for citizen-led social causes, has successfully closed its initial $345,000 pre-seed funding target. The company is now extending the round to $403,000 to onboard additional strategic investors before its final close. This initial funding milestone signals strong confidence in its mission to empower activists with tools for creating sustainable social change.

Strategic Angel Investment Fuels Niche Platform

The round attracted a notable group of business angels, including Miguel Vicente of Wallapop and Glovo, and Vincent Rosso of BlaBlaCar. They are joined by prominent social entrepreneurs such as Sergi Figueres, founder of Worldcoo, and Diego Hidalgo of Amovens. This backing from experienced builders underscores the platform's potential despite its unconventional market focus.

Founder Francisco Polo noted that the company adopted a contrarian approach after facing skepticism from Spanish venture capitalists unfamiliar with its niche. MOVEMENTS operates at the intersection of the creator economy and social activism, a space it aims to define. This led to a strategic decision to partner with angel investors who deeply understand the platform's world-class ambitions.

Platform Demonstrates Explosive Growth and Real-World Impact

Since its launch in 2025, the platform has recorded staggering monthly growth rates, including a 3,184% increase in February 2026. This rapid user acquisition is driven by the network effects inherent in its model, where each new cause brings more members. The platform currently hosts over 370 active movements, a number that continues to expand organically.

A prime example of its success is the Sanidad Pública Segura movement, which collected over 100,000 signatures in five weeks. This initiative, led by Dr. Tamara Contreras, successfully brought the issue of patient safety before the Spanish Congress. Other impactful campaigns include Generation Zero Nukes, led by a Nobel laureate, and a movement promoting sign language legislation.

Building a Sustainable Model for Social Change

With this initial funding secured, MOVEMENTS is entering a new phase focused on product consolidation and scaling its operational model. The company plans to finalize its minimum viable product in April by launching a new subscription system. This feature is designed to provide movements with a source of recurring revenue, ensuring their long-term financial sustainability.

Future Plans Include AI Integration and US Expansion

Looking ahead, MOVEMENTS is preparing to launch its seed funding round in June 2026, targeting the international market directly. A key objective for this next stage is the development of an agent-based artificial intelligence system. This technology will be designed to optimize the creation, management, and overall effectiveness of campaigns on the platform.

International expansion is another primary goal, with the United States identified as the priority market for its global rollout. The company has intentionally delayed positioning itself as an AI firm, preferring to validate its business model first. This strategic patience ensures the technology will be deployed effectively to solve well-defined problems for its user base.

Ultimately, MOVEMENTS aims to establish itself as a global infrastructure for creating and sustaining citizen-led change. The recent funding is a crucial step toward realizing its vision of combining technology, funding, and influence into a single, powerful ecosystem. As founder Francisco Polo states, the goal is to redefine how power is built by equipping anyone with the tools to scale their cause globally.
