Moroccan startup SensThings has launched a production line for its T3 Shield, an innovative anti-cheating device. The system, entirely designed and manufactured in Morocco, aims to combat fraud during the national baccalaureate exams. This initiative represents a significant step in leveraging local technology to ensure academic integrity across the country.
A Moroccan-Made Technological Solution
The T3 Shield is a compact and portable unit weighing less than three kilograms, designed for easy deployment in exam settings. It integrates advanced Edge AI technology, allowing it to detect electronic devices autonomously without needing a cloud connection. With a six-hour battery life, the device can operate continuously throughout an entire examination session.
Advanced and Compliant Detection Capabilities
The device offers four distinct operational modes for comprehensive screening of rooms, bags, and individuals, including precise signal localization. Its core is a patented multi-frequency antenna that passively listens to the radio spectrum without emitting disruptive signals. This design cleverly avoids the legal and health concerns associated with illegal signal jammers.
National Deployment and Industrial Scale
A nationwide deployment is scheduled for early June, equipping over 2,007 examination centers throughout the kingdom. The new production facility in Skhirat has the capacity to produce 250 units daily to meet this demand. This large-scale rollout is timed to secure this year's critical baccalaureate exams.
Addressing a National Challenge
The T3 Shield's introduction is a direct response to the persistent challenge of exam fraud in Morocco. Authorities have noted a rise in sophisticated cheating methods, including the use of artificial intelligence tools. This technology provides a robust tool to enforce Law 02.13, which imposes severe penalties for academic dishonesty.
SensThings: An Emerging Innovator
SensThings, founded in 2022, is a spin-off from the prestigious Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). Backed by UM6P Ventures, the company has already gained international recognition with several awards for its innovations. Its client base includes key government ministries and the OCP Group, highlighting its growing influence.
The launch of the T3 Shield production marks a pivotal moment for Morocco's educational and technological sectors. It showcases a homegrown solution that addresses a critical national issue with sophisticated, legally compliant technology. This initiative not only aims to restore fairness to examinations but also positions SensThings as a key innovator in the region.
