Mirage has introduced Tesseract, a free creative engine designed to give artificial intelligence agents native tools for video editing, motion graphics, compositing, and sound within a single editable project. The announcement was made on September 22, 2026 in New York, positioning the platform as an alternative to conventional editing software for agent-driven workflows. According to company leadership, the goal is to let users describe a professional video and have an agent build it directly where they already work.

A Creative Engine Built for Agents

Tesseract gives agents direct access to video layers, compositions, keyframes, masks, adjustment layers, timing, and sound. Rather than operating a traditional editor interface or generating video through web technologies such as HTML or React, agents work with core video concepts. This native approach is intended to help agents create fluid, layered motion design that feels crafted for video rather than adapted from a webpage.

Turning Assets into Finished Projects

Users can supply footage, images, brand assets, and audio, and Tesseract can turn those materials into finished videos as well as original motion graphics. Projects may include product launch films, social ads, animated typography, diagrams, and footage with graphic overlays. The system supports user creative direction while the agent assembles and refines the project through feedback.

Feedback and Editable Workflows

The workflow begins when a user provides creative direction and relevant assets, after which the agent builds a project. Because the project remains editable throughout, users can ask the agent to rework an entire sequence or make specific changes such as adjusting a keyframe, changing a title's timing, or rebalancing the music. Agents can save the project, export the completed video, and reopen it later for future revisions.

Free Engine and Local Processing

Tesseract runs on a free local engine that handles previewing, rendering, and export without requiring a Captions account, an API key, or Captions credits. Users do not pay for another editing subscription and are not required to learn a separate tool. They remain responsible only for their chosen agent subscription or model usage costs.

Practical Uses Across Modern Video Production

Tesseract is designed for creators who produce product launch films, social advertising, animated typography, diagrams, and footage with graphic overlays. It enables agents to combine user supplied footage with original motion graphics while keeping all elements in one editable composition. This capability is intended to serve marketing teams, content creators, and other professionals who need polished video output without manual editing.

Industry Context and Creator Access

Gaurav Misra, co-founder and chief executive officer of Mirage, said: "Think of Tesseract as Premiere and After Effects, rebuilt for agents." He added that the company is giving creators the ability to make professional video simply by describing what they want. The launch aims to reduce friction for creators who already use AI agents and want professional editing capabilities without additional software costs.

Tesseract arrives as AI agents increasingly move from text and image tasks into more complex media production. By providing a free creative engine that works natively with video concepts, Mirage is targeting a gap between agent capabilities and professional editing tools. The announcement signals a broader effort to make agent-driven video production more accessible, editable, and integrated into everyday creator workflows.
