Hong Kong-headquartered sustainability technology firm MioTech and CCX Group, China's largest credit ratings agency, have signed definitive agreements to combine MioTech with CCX's green finance and ESG business. The new entity, CCX-MioTech, will operate as a major sustainability and ESG business in Asia distinguished by its scale and breadth of capabilities. The transaction remains subject to applicable regulatory approvals.

A Technology and Finance Integration

CCX-MioTech will combine MioTech's agentic artificial intelligence platform for sustainability reporting and supply chain management with CCX's green finance methodologies, ratings franchise and advisory practice. The partnership is described as a systematic integration of software, methodology, data and market access across onshore and offshore markets. MioTech's existing products, roadmap and client relationships will continue without interruption, while its team continues to build and operate the group's software and AI stack.

The combination is intended to create a single system that links deep supply chain activity with market assessment tools. Clients will be able to map multi-tier supplier networks, run sustainability assessments at scale and track emissions across the value chain. This approach connects operational data to the methodologies investors and regulators use to evaluate corporate sustainability performance.

Agentic AI for Supply Chains

Jason Tu, founder of MioTech, said the next decade of sustainability in Asia will be decided in supply chains rather than in annual reports alone. He explained that agentic AI makes this tractable by investigating, assessing and reporting across thousands of suppliers without a thousand analysts. Combining with CCX, he added, brings the technology to the scale the region needs.

CCX-MioTech will introduce a Model Context Protocol service and an AI agent for sustainability reporting as a first output. The service exposes the combined group's sustainability data, evaluation methodologies and industry knowledge to clients' own AI assistants through standardised interfaces. The reporting agent handles data consolidation, report drafting, compliance review and translation from a company's existing data and evidence.

Regulatory Pressure Drives Demand

The transaction responds to a market shift across Asia where sustainability reporting has become a compliance obligation rather than a voluntary exercise. Jurisdictions from Japan and Korea to Singapore, India and Greater China are adopting ISSB-aligned disclosure standards. Exchanges are making climate reporting mandatory for listed issuers, accelerating the need for reliable reporting infrastructure.

Asian exporters also face widening requirements from major markets including the EU's CSDDD, CBAM and EUDR, as well as the US UFLPA. These rules require evidence gathered from suppliers several tiers deep across multiple jurisdictions and languages. Manual compliance at scale has become impractical, making AI-driven systems a condition of continued market access.

About the Companies

MioTech was founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Hong Kong, with investors including GIC, J.P. Morgan Asset Management, HSBC, B Capital Group, Horizons Ventures, TOM Group and ZhenFund. CCX Group is China's largest credit ratings agency and a leading provider of credit, green finance and ESG services. Its green finance arm, CCX Green Finance, is among the earliest professional institutions in China to provide third-party green finance services.

The signed transaction positions CCX-MioTech to serve corporates, manufacturers, exporters and financial institutions across Asia with a broadened capability set. By combining AI software with green finance expertise, the new entity aims to address the growing compliance burden in sustainability and supply chain management. Completion of the combination remains subject to regulatory approval.
