Chilean agtech startup Miido has raised a $400,000 pre-seed round to accelerate its expansion into the United States and deepen its footprint in Chile and Mexico. The funding was led by Chile Global Angels alongside Silicon Valley’s SkyDeck Berkeley fund, which also accepted the company into its prestigious accelerator program. With this capital, Miido aims to scale its WhatsApp-based intelligent assistants that help agricultural companies capture field data and turn it into real-time operational insights.

From Hardware Roots to AI Assistants

Miido was founded five years ago building industrial hardware for the agricultural sector, working closely with producers in the field. Over time, the team realized that many farm operators still relied on pen-and-paper methods to record critical information, limiting visibility and decision-making. This observation drove a strategic pivot at the end of last year toward software, leading to the creation of AI-powered assistants in WhatsApp designed to digitize operations with minimal friction.

Digitizing Agriculture Through WhatsApp

Today, Miido’s platform enables agricultural companies to capture field data via voice messages on WhatsApp, automatically transforming them into structured information and operational insights. The system allows businesses to design their own AI-driven workflows, improving productivity and decision-making without the need for complex technological infrastructure. By meeting workers on a familiar channel and supporting voice input, Miido reduces adoption barriers while integrating data from the field into centralized, automated analysis.

Traction with Leading Fruit Producers

Miido has gained strong traction in the fruit agribusiness segment, where operational complexity and geographic dispersion make real-time data especially valuable. The startup already works with leading clients such as Driscoll’s in Mexico and Westfalia Fruits in Chile, which use the platform to modernize and streamline their production processes. According to chief executive officer Nicolas Castellón, the team’s fascination with agriculture and engineering mindset has fueled a focus on solving the industry’s most complex challenges through practical, field-ready technology.

Investment, Acceleration and Growth Plans

The pre-seed round from Chile Global Angels and SkyDeck Berkeley will support Miido’s international growth and the further development of its agricultural AI platform. As part of Berkeley SkyDeck, the company gains access to a global network of mentors, investors and partners, as well as a stronger launchpad for its U.S. market entry. In the short term, Miido is targeting $500,000 in annual recurring revenue and aims to secure at least three new customers in the United States while preparing a future seed round of between $2 million and $4 million.

The team acknowledges that winning initial customers in the United States, a market with different agricultural conditions and dynamics, will be one of its main challenges. To mitigate this, Miido is leaning on advisors with experience operating in both Chilean and U.S. markets and studying reference cases such as Wiseconn that have successfully scaled across borders. With fresh capital, a validated product and the backing of one of Silicon Valley’s top accelerators, Miido is positioning itself as a contender to become one of the most robust digital solutions for agricultural operations in the Americas.
