Metycle, a Cologne-based global supplier of secondary copper and aluminum, has secured a $150 million credit facility from Rivonia Road Capital. The asset-backed lending firm focuses on private capital and will support eligible transactions across the full trade cycle. The financing is intended to help Metycle execute larger transactions, move greater volumes of recycled metals, and expand supply to industrial buyers and smelters worldwide.

Scaling Secondary Metal Supply with a Repeatable Framework

The facility covers transactions from supplier payment through buyer settlement. This structure provides a repeatable framework for financing complex physical commodity transactions with institutional private credit. Metycle expects faster execution for suppliers, larger and more consistent flows of specified secondary feedstock for customers, and greater capacity to source and supply secondary copper and aluminum at scale.

Copper and aluminum are essential to electrification, power grids, data center infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing. With new primary supply requiring significant time to develop, reliable secondary supply is becoming increasingly important to raw material security, industrial resilience, and decarbonization. The secondary metals market, however, remains fragmented, with inconsistencies across specifications, data quality, and documentation that make transactions difficult to standardize, verify, and finance at scale.

A Vertically Integrated Trading and Processing Model

Metycle's vertically integrated model brings together global commodity trading, physical processing, and digital verification to make secondary metal flows more predictable from source to smelter. Its first SmartSorting Hub in Maasmechelen, Belgium, combines AI-enabled sorting, spectroscopy, and proprietary data infrastructure to transform mixed scrap into specified, smelter-ready feedstock. The system uses sensor data to guide sorting toward buyer specifications and improve output consistency.

The company's trading operations manage sourcing, risk, and execution. TrustTrack, its digital evidence layer, connects records on material identity, quality, processing, custody, and logistics to batches and trades. Each processed batch and completed transaction expands Metycle's proprietary data set on material characteristics, processing outcomes, and trade execution to inform sourcing and sales decisions.

Investor Confidence and Growth Trajectory

Rivonia Road Capital Co-founder and Managing Partner Daniel Zinn said the firm is proud to support Metycle's next phase of growth. He described the company as a differentiated platform bringing greater transparency, reliability, and efficiency to the global recycled metals market. Zinn also highlighted the management team's deep industry expertise, disciplined execution, and clear vision for scaling the business.

Founded in 2022 by Rafael Suchan and Sebastian Brenner, Metycle has traded more than $120 million worth of secondary metals over the past 12 months. That represents growth of 150 percent versus the prior year, with a team present in 15 countries. The new credit facility follows a €14 million Series A funding round in February 2025 and a €4.7 million seed round announced in December 2023.

Metycle CEO and Co-Founder Rafael Suchan said secondary metals do not lack demand but predictability. He said the company's opportunity is to make secondary supply behave more like an industrial raw material that is specified, traceable, and reliably delivered. Suchan added that the facility gives Metycle capacity to finance substantially more material through that system and serve customers at a much greater scale.

The $150 million credit facility marks a significant step in Metycle's effort to bring institutional-scale financing to the secondary metals market. It positions the company to expand transaction volumes and strengthen supply reliability for industrial buyers and smelters. By pairing physical processing with digital verification, Metycle aims to address long-standing fragmentation and make recycled copper and aluminum a more dependable industrial resource.
