The Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund (MBRIF), an initiative launched by the UAE Ministry of Finance, has announced an AED 2 million credit guarantee for Wisewell, a UAE-based water technology company. The support is intended to accelerate research, development, and expansion of Wisewell's IoT-enabled water purification systems. The announcement, published on October 8, 2026, highlights a homegrown UAE company that has already diverted more than 17.4 million single-use plastic bottles from landfills.

Purpose of the Credit Guarantee

The AED 2 million guarantee will support Wisewell's capital investment and research and development, helping the company enhance its smart water purification technology. Rather than requiring the company to surrender equity, the MBRIF Guarantee Scheme enables high-potential firms to access financing on more favorable terms. This structure allows Wisewell to strengthen operations, invest in technology, and pursue sustainable growth while maintaining ownership.

Technology and Environmental Impact

Wisewell's systems purify water at the source using a patented dual action of reverse osmosis and natural Maifan stone. The reverse osmosis process removes contaminants such as microplastics, lead, and PFAS, while Maifan stone restores minerals including calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Built-in sensors track water quality and display it live through the Wisewell app, making purification visible with every pour.

Measurable Environmental Recognition

To date, Wisewell has prevented more than 17.4 million single-use plastic bottles from reaching landfills. The company provides households and businesses with a smart and sustainable alternative to bottled water, addressing delivery, plastic waste, and clutter. This measurable impact has earned recognition, including selection in the Ministry of Economy's Future100 initiative and a top 20 finalist position in Majra's Sustainable Impact Challenge 2025.

Leadership Perspective

Fatima Yousif Alnaqbi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector at the UAE Ministry of Finance and Chief Innovation Officer, said MBRIF remains committed to supporting companies that contribute to a future-focused and sustainability-driven economy. She described Wisewell as a strong example of a homegrown UAE company leveraging advanced technology to address critical environmental and public health challenges. She added that this support strengthens the UAE's position as a global hub for innovation and sustainable development.

Founder Perspective

Sami Khoreibi, Founder of Wisewell, said the support marks an important milestone in the company's journey to transform access to clean drinking water. He noted that bottled water presents challenges related to delivery, plastic waste, and unnecessary clutter, and the funding allows Wisewell to replace all three faster. Khoreibi added that the partnership enables accelerated research and development, expanded operational capabilities, and continued delivery of environmental and health benefits from a UAE-grown technology platform with global potential.

Broader Support for UAE Innovation

Beyond the Guarantee Scheme, MBRIF operates an Innovation Accelerator Program aligned with the UAE National Innovation Strategy. The Accelerator offers world-class services and coaching to member companies to accelerate business growth, elevate capabilities, and achieve scale. MBRIF also partners with public and private sector organizations to facilitate growth, create opportunities, and pave the way for success for its member companies in the UAE.

The MBRIF credit guarantee for Wisewell reflects the UAE's broader commitment to combining innovation, sustainability, and economic diversification. By supporting a local company that reduces single-use plastic consumption and improves access to clean water, MBRIF helps turn national sustainability ambitions into practical commercial growth. The partnership demonstrates how targeted financial backing can enable homegrown technology companies to scale while delivering measurable environmental and public health benefits across the UAE and beyond.
