Matchpoint Therapeutics, a biotechnology company pioneering precision covalent medicines, announced the closing of a US$150 million Series B financing on October 7, 2026. The round was co-led by Nextech Invest and Norwest, with participation from a syndicate of new and existing investors. The capital will advance MPT-062, an oral first-in-class T cell modulator, toward clinical development expected to begin in 2027.

Financing Details and Investor Support

The Series B attracted new investors Invus, BB Biotech, T1D Fund, and BOLD Longevity Growth. Founding investors Access Biotechnology and Atlas Venture, lead Series A investor Sanofi Ventures, Digitalis Ventures, and all other existing investors also participated. The composition of the syndicate reflects broad confidence in the company's precision covalent medicine platform.

Board Appointments

In connection with the financing, Kanishka Pothula, Ph.D., Managing Partner at Nextech Invest, will join Matchpoint's Board of Directors. Brian Matesic, M.D., Principal at Norwest, will also join the board. Their combined expertise in biotechnology investment and drug development will support Matchpoint's clinical strategy as the company prepares for its next phase of growth.

Clinical Development Plans

Proceeds from the financing will support progression of the lead asset MPT-062 to clinical proof-of-concept and further validation of its therapeutic potential. Matchpoint will also advance its broader product pipeline of first-in-class programs across multiple autoimmune and inflammatory indications. The company will continue progressing an additional program funded by Novartis through the July 2025 agreement.

Leadership Commentary

Chief Executive Officer Andre Turenne said the Series B financing reflects substantial progress in the discovery of differentiated first-in-class oral therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. He expressed gratitude to the company's new and existing investors for their support as Matchpoint advances MPT-062 into clinical development. Turenne added that the company will continue progressing its other innovative programs.

Investor Perspectives

Kanishka Pothula commented that MPT-062 could fundamentally change the management of many common immune-mediated inflammatory conditions with an oral medicine. The first-in-class mechanism has the potential to precisely address disease-causing T cell overactivation, according to Pothula. Brian Matesic added that Matchpoint's covalent drug discovery platform has made unprecedented advances against historically hard-to-drug targets.

Strategic Platform and Discovery Pipeline

Matchpoint's discovery engine integrates deep expertise across chemical biology, covalent chemistry, structure-based drug design, and computational sciences. The platform enables the rational design of covalent small molecules for biologically validated targets that have been historically hard to drug. Matchpoint's focused deployment of this technology has produced a pipeline of first-in-class programs and a discovery collaboration with Novartis.

About Matchpoint Therapeutics

Matchpoint Therapeutics is a privately held biotechnology company based in Watertown, Massachusetts. It develops breakthrough oral medicines for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases by pioneering a new generation of rationally designed covalent small molecules. The company focuses on biologically validated targets that have been difficult to drug using conventional approaches, addressing significant unmet patient needs.

Future Development Milestones

Matchpoint expects to initiate clinical development of MPT-062 in 2027. The company will use the Series B proceeds to complete preclinical activities and early clinical preparations necessary for proof-of-concept. This timeline positions Matchpoint to generate meaningful clinical data in autoimmune and inflammatory disease populations and supports its broader pipeline ambitions.

The US$150 million Series B positions Matchpoint Therapeutics to advance MPT-062 into clinical development and expand its precision covalent medicine pipeline. With board-level expertise from Nextech Invest and Norwest, along with support from a global investor syndicate, the company is well positioned to pursue new oral treatment options for immune-mediated conditions. The financing marks a significant milestone in Matchpoint's effort to address hard-to-drug targets and improve outcomes for patients.
