Aba-based location technology company Maiaddy announced on September 9, 2026, that it has expanded its Maimaps platform to include routing intelligence, a move designed to help logistics providers, delivery services, and mobility companies build precise movement on top of its Loccode identity system. The capability is available immediately to developers through the Maiaddy Developers portal. The update extends Maimaps beyond search and navigation into route calculation and optimisation for real operating conditions.
A third layer for Nigerian location data
The expansion follows the launch of Loccodes in November 2024, which introduced a universal identity code for places across Nigeria, and the release of Maimaps in July 2026 to make those identities searchable and navigable. Routing intelligence now forms a third layer that turns location identity into movement intelligence. Founder and CEO Obinna Onyejeli said Maimaps was only half finished as a location platform if it could not tell users the best way to reach a place.
The friction in logistics and mobility
Nigeria's logistics and mobility markets have grown rapidly while the addressing infrastructure beneath them has lagged. Delivery companies often make several confirmation calls before dispatching riders because written addresses cannot always be trusted to resolve correctly. Drivers frequently rely on voice notes and landmark descriptions, while route planning remains manual or depends on tools built for standardised address systems.
What the route intelligence API provides
With the new capability, origins, destinations, and waypoints can be expressed as Loccodes that resolve to verified coordinates rather than interpreted street text. The Maimaps API can geocode and verify an address before a route is calculated, then optimise routes dynamically against traffic, road closures, and delivery demand. It also generates arrival estimates from live conditions and guides drivers to exact pickup and drop-off coordinates instead of approximate street-level locations.
Built for consumers and operators
Consumers will see faster and smarter navigation appear automatically in the latest version of the Maimaps application. E-commerce and delivery platforms can reduce the operational overhead of last-mile delivery by verifying addresses before dispatch and calculating routes based on real conditions. Ride-hailing services gain a tighter match between where passengers expect a driver to stop and where the vehicle actually arrives.
Local constraints and commercial approach
Onyejeli positioned the platform as built for Nigeria, with pricing in naira and a single API that handles both identity and routing for local engineering teams. The company plans to launch offline maps in the fourth quarter, enabling Loccode resolution in low-bandwidth corridors. Maiaddy said early enterprise users recorded zero failures among operators that had previously experienced failed deliveries.
A wider addressing landscape
Maiaddy enters a market where global routing tools often assume reliable postal addresses and dense telemetry data, conditions that do not always hold in Nigerian cities. The company says its Nigeria-only road graph relies heavily on user contributions and is maintained by people familiar with local road disruptions. It also acknowledged ongoing national postcode efforts and expressed openness to collaboration where different addressing systems can serve specific use cases.
Maimaps now spans place identity, consumer navigation, and enterprise routing through a single application programming interface. The company frames the update as a response to the everyday logistics challenges that slow commerce across Nigeria. By embedding route intelligence within its existing identity layer, Maiaddy aims to make every location both findable and reachable under realistic local conditions.
