MFL, a fantasy sports platform built around music industry data, announced on October 6, 2026 that it will integrate Lucra's software development kit into its app. The partnership adds real-money private leagues, public tournaments, and cash prizes to a game where artist activity determines daily scores. Free-to-play options will remain available while Lucra-powered achievements unlock discounts and rewards for all players.

How MFL's Fantasy Music Format Works

MFL applies the familiar fantasy sports model to data that the music industry already produces. Players draft a roster of artists who earn points based on real-world activity such as streaming performance, new releases, and tour dates. Scores post overnight, allowing users to review results and set their lineup for the next day while spotting the right artist at the right time.

Lucra's Real-Money Infrastructure

Lucra's SDK powers the real-money layer inside MFL from day one. The integration enables friends to compete for cash in private leagues and lets players enter public tournaments for larger cash prizes. Lucra handles compliance, payments, fraud prevention, and settlement, allowing MFL to focus on gameplay rather than building complex financial infrastructure.

Executive Commentary

Dylan Robbins, CEO of Lucra, said, "Every league is better when it's playing for something." He added that MFL gives music fans a scoreboard, and Lucra puts real money behind it, so a Tuesday streaming number or a surprise drop can decide who wins a game. Robbins characterized fantasy built around artists as a completely new format and said Alex Luke and his team know the industry from the inside.

Alex Luke, CEO of MFL, said his leadership roles at Apple and Amazon focused on amplifying the music industry's daily and weekly activity. He explained that with AI, the data generated by that activity can now power a fantasy game and create new fan engagement. Luke added that real-money leagues give fans one more reason to check in every day, and he described Lucra as a proven platform for payment and compliance infrastructure.

Availability and Participation

Real-money leagues and tournaments will be live inside MFL at the app's public launch. Fans can sign up for early access through MFL's website. Cash contests are subject to local laws and regulations, and participants must be at least 18 years of age or older, with higher age requirements in select jurisdictions and the offer void where prohibited.

Company Backgrounds

Lucra powers competitive loyalty through a plug-and-play SDK that integrates into apps or websites and enables tournaments, mini-games, and peer-to-peer competitions. Brands including Five Iron Golf, Backyard Sports, ChessKings, and TouchTunes use Lucra's white-label technology to power tournaments and challenges, build loyalty, and drive new revenue. MFL was founded by CEO Alex Luke, who previously held leadership roles at Apple Music, Amazon Music, Capitol Records, Napster, and SiriusXM, alongside co-founders Gregory Butler and David Jarrett.

MFL and Lucra are positioning the partnership as a new category at the intersection of music, data, and competitive play. By combining MFL's artist performance model with Lucra's compliant real-money infrastructure, the collaboration gives music fans an incentive to follow daily industry activity. The launch will test whether fantasy formats can translate beyond sports and into entertainment categories with passionate, data-rich audiences.
