Launch Africa Ventures has announced the appointment of Natnael Asmerom, widely known as Nat, to spearhead its investor relations strategy. Based in Dubai, he becomes the firm’s first dedicated representative in the Middle East, marking a strategic step in strengthening its presence in the region. The move reflects the venture capital firm’s growing commitment to building stronger partnerships across the United Arab Emirates and beyond.

Expanding Regional Presence

Natnael’s arrival comes as Launch Africa Ventures deepens its engagement in the Middle East, supported by its collaboration with strategic partner PINInvest. The firm sees the region as a crucial link between Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and global capital networks. With a permanent representative now on the ground, the company aims to better connect African startups with investors and partners across the Gulf.

Professional Background

Before joining Launch Africa, Natnael spent seven years at Goldman Sachs, where he managed client portfolios across Institutional and Private Wealth divisions. His work at the global investment bank focused on driving strategic growth and strengthening client engagement, skills that align with his new role. In addition, he recently completed the Included VC fellowship, further underscoring his expertise in venture capital and investment management.

Strategic Significance

By appointing a dedicated leader for investor relations, Launch Africa is positioning itself to enhance its fundraising capabilities and deepen institutional ties. Dubai’s role as a financial hub makes it an ideal base for expanding outreach to regional investors interested in Africa’s high-growth sectors. This step aligns with the firm’s broader mission of backing Africa’s next generation of innovative startups and scaling them internationally.

Strengthening Investor Relations

Natnael’s role will focus on institutionalizing client engagement and cultivating long-term partnerships with investors across the Middle East. His mandate also includes creating stronger bridges between capital pools in the UAE and high-potential ventures across Africa. This appointment signals the firm’s intent to professionalize its investor relations function while expanding its geographic reach.

Leadership Remarks

The announcement was welcomed by Launch Africa’s leadership, including general partners Zachariah George and Janade Du Plessis, who highlighted the importance of this milestone. They emphasized that Natnael’s experience and presence in Dubai would accelerate the firm’s ability to foster meaningful connections in the Middle East. The firm expressed confidence that his leadership will add momentum to its mission of unlocking opportunities for African entrepreneurs.

The addition of Natnael Asmerom marks a significant step in Launch Africa Ventures’ growth strategy, reinforcing its commitment to expanding its investor base and strengthening regional partnerships. With a dedicated presence in Dubai, the firm is better positioned to bridge the gap between Middle Eastern capital and African innovation. This appointment reflects Launch Africa’s determination to remain a key player in supporting the continent’s entrepreneurial ecosystem while extending its influence globally.
