The Kosmos Innovation Center, in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, has made a significant investment of $200,000 into 22 promising startups as part of its 2025 AgriTech Pro program. This initiative aims to support seed funding for ventures operating across the agricultural value chain, emphasizing innovation and sustainability. The funding comes at the conclusion of a rigorous five-month accelerator program that attracted over 60 startup teams from across the region.

Competitive Selection Drives Innovation in Agriculture

The investment follows the program’s final pitch event, which served as the culminating moment of the accelerator, designed to nurture high-potential agricultural startups. After intense competition and evaluation, 22 startups were selected to receive seed funding, recognizing their potential to contribute meaningfully to the agribusiness ecosystem. This year’s cohort highlights the diversity of innovative solutions emerging in industrial, food processing, farm support, sustainability, and natural care sectors.

Focus on Industrial and Energy Solutions

Among the notable winners, Pure Lube secured the largest single investment of $25,000 for its development of biodegradable lubricants tailored for industrial machinery. The company’s eco-friendly products support the broader goal of reducing environmental impact within industrial operations. This investment reflects a growing trend toward sustainable industrial practices in the agricultural sector.

Advancing Food Processing and Agribusiness

Several startups received funding for their work in food processing and agribusiness, showcasing Ghana’s rich agricultural diversity. EcoBroma Ghana, awarded $20,000, focuses on transforming cocoa pulp into beverages and industrial products, adding value to cocoa farming byproducts. Others, such as Peanut Pride, Millbles, and Soyko Agro Foods, are innovating with peanut-based snacks, millet products, and gluten-free flour blends, respectively, addressing nutritional challenges and market needs.

Technological Innovation in Farm Management

In the agritech and farm support category, startups like GardPath Technologies and Growth Line Farm Tech were recognized for their technological tools aimed at improving farm management and animal health. GardPath develops test kits to aid early disease detection in animals, while Growth Line creates farm management devices that boost operational efficiency. Other funded ventures include AgriEase and Danny Machinery, which focus on digital platforms and mechanization to modernize agricultural operations.

Promoting Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Practices

Sustainability remains a core theme among the funded startups, with several focusing on eco-friendly products and renewable energy solutions. Premium Biofert and Zenags Organics produce organic fertilizers and farming inputs to improve soil health and support sustainable farming practices. COGAM Stainless Charcoal and EcoLeap are pioneering alternatives to traditional charcoal and energy sources, reducing environmental degradation and promoting cleaner agricultural energy use.

Innovation Extends to Biotechnology and Packaging

Additional startups are leveraging biotechnology and sustainable materials to enhance agricultural productivity and reduce waste. Biospace GH develops biotechnological innovations, while Earth Allies focuses on biodegradable plastic films and pellets, addressing environmental challenges in packaging. These innovations underscore the program’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge science into agricultural development.

Natural and Personal Care Product Startups

The program also supports ventures in natural and personal care products derived from agricultural waste and sustainable materials. Peli Natural Glow transforms cocoa waste into luxury skincare and haircare items for the hospitality sector, contributing to waste reduction and value addition. Fibre Lux, with its natural fibre-based sustainable products, further exemplifies the growing market for eco-conscious consumer goods linked to agriculture.

The Kosmos Innovation Center’s $200,000 investment in 22 startups through the AgriTech Pro program signals a strong commitment to nurturing innovation across multiple facets of the agricultural sector. By fostering sustainable practices, advancing technology, and supporting value-added production, the program aims to enhance agricultural productivity and economic growth in the region. As these startups continue to develop and scale, they represent a promising future for agritech-driven transformation in Ghana and beyond.
