Sleep technology company Kimba has officially launched, securing $6.5 million in a funding round led by Selva Ventures to introduce its novel sleep improvement system. The company is pioneering an AI-powered approach that utilizes adaptive scent therapy to actively enhance sleep quality rather than merely tracking it. This innovative method aims to provide a drug-free solution for deeper, more restorative rest by working directly with the brain's olfactory system during sleep.

A Personal Mission for Better Sleep

The company's origins are deeply rooted in the personal experiences of its founder and CEO, Ben Fuxbruner, a former special forces commander. A near-death injury resulted in PTSD and chronic insomnia, compelling him to seek a scientific, non-pharmaceutical solution for his sleep struggles. This personal quest ultimately led to the development of the very system he wished had been available to him during his recovery.

The Science of Scent and Sleep

Kimba's technology operates by creating a personalized sleep profile for each user, monitoring key biometric signals throughout the night. The device uses built-in sensors and integrates with wearables like WHOOP and Oura to track breathing patterns, movement, and heart rate variability. This continuous data stream allows the system to understand an individual's unique sleep state in real time without being invasive.

An adaptive AI engine analyzes this biometric feedback to deliver precisely timed interventions using proprietary, plant-derived scent formulations. By leveraging the olfactory pathway, the only sense that can influence the brain without causing wakefulness, Kimba actively supports deeper sleep cycles. The result is a seamless, non-invasive system designed to improve sleep quality without grogginess or dependency.

Clinical Validation and Future Research

The company's approach is supported by early clinical validation from a study conducted with olfactory neuroscience expert Dr. Anat Arzi. The research, involving 50 participants over 48 nights, demonstrated significant improvements in both sleep quality and subsequent cognitive performance. These findings provide a strong scientific foundation for the technology's efficacy and potential benefits for users.

Kimba is further advancing its research with two additional clinical studies under the guidance of renowned sleep expert Professor Peretz Lavie. One study will use polysomnography testing to evaluate physiological sleep outcomes in controlled environments. Another will explore the technology's impact on mental health and PTSD, reflecting the founder's original inspiration for the company.

Strategic Investment and Market Launch

The recent $6.5 million funding round, led by consumer health investor Selva Ventures, will be instrumental in supporting Kimba's commercial debut. This capital infusion is earmarked to accelerate the company's mission to redefine the sleep technology category. The investment signals strong confidence in Kimba's shift from passive tracking toward active, personalized sleep improvement.

With its official launch, Kimba is now making its technology available to consumers for the first time through a pre-order system. This marks a significant step in bringing a new approach to sleep treatment into the modern health and wellness market. The initial offering provides early adopters with the device, software, and a six-month supply of personalized scents.

Kimba enters the consumer health market with a distinct proposition, aiming to transform the industry's focus from simple measurement to active intervention. By combining AI, biometric feedback, and the unique power of scent, the company offers a promising, drug-free alternative for improving sleep. This launch represents a significant development for individuals seeking to enhance their overall well-being through better, more restorative rest.
