idGenius has introduced Matrix, version 2 of its AI agent identity security platform, and confirmed its status as an independent operating company, according to an October 2, 2026 announcement. Anomalix will continue as a separate entity providing advisory, implementation, and managed services. The move reflects growing demand for governance models that treat AI agents as operational entities rather than static identities.

Independent Structure and Market Context

AI agents are already active in production environments, writing code across enterprise applications and cloud platforms. They rely on service accounts, APIs, credentials, tools, data access, and delegated work, yet a flat access record cannot explain who owns an agent, which project it serves, or why it needs a tool. Matrix addresses this gap by establishing a shared identity layer for AI agents that enables business logic, governance, and cost containment.

Relationship Ontology and Real-Time Control

Matrix uses a relationship ontology to securely connect agents with their owners, organizations, business purposes, projects, credentials, tools, data, policies, and other agents. idGenius then applies that context to govern actions as they occur in real time. This moves security beyond permission checks to an understanding of why an agent is acting.

Policy Decisions at the Point of Action

The idGenius agent harness allows other agents to request policy decisions before taking actions. Matrix uses Open Policy Agent and its Rego policy language to evaluate rules informed by the relationship model, then delivers decisions through Model Context Protocol tool boundary integrations. An agent’s proposed tool call can be assessed against its identity, owner, purpose, permitted resources, and current risk before it proceeds.

Agent Kill Switch and Incident Response

Matrix includes an agent kill switch that can deny further actions at connected enforcement points when containment is required. It also shows the owner, resources, and dependent workflows affected by the decision. This gives incident responders both immediate control and the context needed to understand the full consequences of containment.

Operational Visibility and Cost Management

The platform brings together six core capabilities: discover, learn, govern, enforce, observe, and audit. It connects agent activity and token usage directly to business purpose, helping enterprises identify unnecessary spend and measure changes in risk, capital expenditure, and operating expense over time. This supports both cost containment and stronger security oversight across complex agent environments.

Leadership Perspective

Mohammed Elkhatib, CEO of idGenius, said organizations are using outdated approaches and tools to secure AI agents. He noted that AI agents operate more like an entity than an identity, and that Matrix connects authority to business purpose. According to Elkhatib, the harness gives agents the business, security, and operational context needed at runtime, removing silos between developers and security teams.

Investor Outlook

John Johnson, co-founder of idGenius, said an agent can follow a technically valid path and still act outside its business mandate. He explained that the harness lets other agents ask for a decision at the point of action while the relationship model supplies the context behind that decision. Ed Jackiowak, an Anthropic investor and idGenius board member, said enterprises need to see authority chains across tools, data, and organizations and retain control when an agent’s behavior or purpose changes.

Company Focus and About idGenius

As an independent operating company, idGenius will focus on developing and delivering Matrix, while Anomalix retains its separate identity for advisory consulting, implementation, and managed services. idGenius develops identity security for AI agents and other nonhuman identities. Its platform combines a relationship ontology, an agent harness, and policy enforcement integrations to help enterprises discover agents, govern their actions, contain risk, observe activity, and produce audit evidence.

Matrix arrives at a moment when AI agents are expanding enterprise access and creating new authority chains across systems. By embedding identity, purpose, and policy into agent interactions, idGenius aims to make real-time governance practical for security teams and developers. The independent structure positions idGenius to focus on this emerging identity layer while Anomalix continues its services work.
