Israeli cybersecurity startup Huskeys has officially launched out of stealth, securing $8 million in seed funding to tackle long-standing issues in web application security. Founded by Israeli intelligence veterans Itai Gafni and Roy Weissfeld, the company introduces an AI-powered platform to manage and optimize existing Web Application Firewalls (WAFs). This new approach aims to enhance legacy systems without requiring costly replacement, offering a modern solution to a decades-old problem.

Addressing a Decades-Old Challenge

Web Application Firewalls have been a cornerstone of digital security for nearly thirty years, yet the core technology has seen little evolution. These systems are often complex and prone to misconfigurations that result in high rates of false positives. Consequently, legitimate users are frequently blocked, leading to frustrated customers and direct negative impacts on business revenue for online enterprises.

An Innovative AI-Powered Solution

Huskeys introduces a new category called "Edge Security Management" to resolve these challenges by adding an intelligent layer to existing security stacks. The platform does not replace WAFs but instead integrates with them to provide centralized control and real-time optimization of rules and policies. This system is designed to operate seamlessly across multiple cloud providers and firewall vendors without any changes to application code.

At its core, the Huskeys engine analyzes business logic, traffic patterns, and risk signals to make informed decisions. By enriching this data with environmental context, the AI continuously adapts and refines security defenses to improve accuracy. This allows organizations to transform their WAFs from a cumbersome operational burden into a more effective and efficient security tool.

Demonstrating Early Market Traction

Despite its recent launch, Huskeys has already demonstrated significant market traction by securing dozens of major global clients. High-profile customers, including TikTok, Merlin Entertainments, and Hugging Face, are already utilizing the platform for their security needs. The system currently processes over one trillion traffic requests daily across tens of thousands of domains, showcasing its scalability and reliability.

The platform's value is highlighted by its ability to deliver tangible business outcomes, as one client discovered. Huskeys identified a misconfigured firewall on an e-commerce site that was preventing customers from completing purchases, a problem worth millions in potential losses. By correcting the rules, the system not only enhanced security but also directly protected the company's revenue stream.

Strong Backing from Diverse Investors

The $8 million seed round was supported by a diverse and influential group of investors, reflecting broad confidence in the company's vision. The funding included contributions from venture capital firms such as 10D, SVAngel, and ToDay, part of Merlin Ventures. This capital infusion will fuel the expansion of Huskeys' research and go-to-market teams, which are primarily based in Israel.

Beyond traditional venture capital, the investment group includes prominent cybersecurity entrepreneurs, CISOs from Fortune 500 companies, and notable figures from the world of sports. Investors include football star Mario Götze, NFL legend Larry Fitzgerald, and The Players Fund, which is backed by the Premier League. This unique coalition underscores the widespread appeal and perceived potential of Huskeys' technology across different industries.

With its innovative approach and strong early momentum, Huskeys is poised to redefine how organizations manage their edge security infrastructure. The company's platform offers a compelling value proposition by improving security posture, reducing operational friction, and unlocking new revenue opportunities for its clients. As Huskeys expands, its focus on modernizing legacy systems could set a new standard for web application security management globally.
