Housr, a student housing platform founded at the University of Manchester, is expanding its United States presence through a new collaboration with the University of Oklahoma. The partnership gives students in Norman centralized access to off-campus housing options, roommate connections, and local student discounts. The announcement follows Housr's $10 million Series A and highlights the company's acceleration in the American market.

A Growing U.S. Campus Network

The University of Oklahoma joins the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Webster University on the list of American institutions supported by Housr. The platform allows students to explore available housing, discover participating businesses, and access community resources in one place. Housr developed its model over four years through established relationships with universities and student unions in the United Kingdom.

Centralized Resources for Students

Housr is designed to address decisions that students often make earlier than many people realize. Through the platform, students can compare housing information, connect with potential roommates, and learn about the wider Norman community before committing to a lease. The University of Oklahoma views the tool as a practical way to support students during a critical and complex transition.

Series A Funding and Growth

Housr closed a $10 million Series A led by Ashta Capital, with participation from Juniper Equity, and has reported 186 percent year over year revenue growth. The funding is directed at product development, hiring, and expansion into key university markets. It has supported the company's fastest period of campus and operator growth in its history.

Benefits for Local Businesses

The platform also provides housing providers and local businesses with a centralized way to share information and offers with the University of Oklahoma community. Participating providers can engage directly with Housr regarding platform services and engagement opportunities. This creates a two-sided resource that connects students with off-campus living options while supporting local commerce.

Leadership Perspectives

David A. Surratt, vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students, noted that students begin making off-campus housing decisions earlier than many people realize. He said Housr gives students a centralized resource to explore housing information, connect with roommates, and learn about Norman community resources as they make decisions. Harry Panter, Chief Executive Officer at Housr, added that momentum in the U.S. has been extraordinary and that the collaboration is a milestone fueling further growth.

Origins and U.K. Experience

Housr was founded in 2021 at the University of Manchester and has spent four years building relationships with U.K. universities and student unions. Its partners include the University of Birmingham and the University of Reading Students' Union. The company is now applying that established model to American campuses with the support of its Series A capital.

Future Expansion Plans

Housr operates from Manchester and Chicago and is targeting one million students served across both markets. The company plans several additional launches across the United States through the rest of 2026 and into 2027. Panter described the University of Oklahoma collaboration as one of several milestones expected to fuel that growth.

With this collaboration, Housr strengthens its role in the student housing market at a time of rapid expansion. The University of Oklahoma gains a practical platform for guiding students through off-campus housing decisions while local businesses gain new ways to reach the student population. Backed by its Series A funding, Housr is positioned to continue scaling its presence across the United States and the United Kingdom.
