House of Student, a technology platform focused on international student accommodation, has raised $2 million in seed financing to support its product development and global expansion. The round combined equity and debt and was co-led by Saltwater Sutra and Nirmitsu Inspirational Ventures. The financing was announced on July 28, 2026, as the company seeks to strengthen its position in the fragmented global student housing market.

Strategic Investors Join the Seed Round

The round also included participation from Gautam Verlekar, Bank of New York Mellon Managing Director Glen Fernandes, former UK India Business Council Chief Executive Richard McCallum, and Singapore Gulf Bank Executive Vice Chairman Ali Moosa. Existing investor Unilodgers also participated, alongside other strategic backers supporting the company’s international growth plans. The company did not disclose the division between equity and debt, its valuation, or other financial terms associated with the transaction.

Funding to Support Technology and Expansion

House of Student plans to use the new capital to accelerate product innovation, increase the supply of accommodation available through its platform, and strengthen its artificial intelligence capabilities. The company will also direct funding toward its expansion across international education destinations, where students often face limited transparency and inconsistent booking processes. By improving its technology and housing network, the business aims to simplify how students identify, compare, verify, and reserve accommodation before moving abroad.

Building a Global Student Accommodation Network

Founded in February 2025 by Vaibhav Verma, House of Student operates an online platform for accommodation booking and housing network management. The company says its network includes more than 2.5 million verified student rooms across over 25 countries, giving prospective tenants access to housing in major international education markets. Its model combines digital booking infrastructure with tools intended to help accommodation providers manage inventory and connect with students from different regions.

Experience from Unilodgers

House of Student builds on Verma’s previous experience establishing Unilodgers, an international marketplace for student accommodation that is also participating in the latest round. That background gives the new company experience in addressing the logistical difficulties associated with cross-border student housing, including fragmented inventories, remote property selection, and verification concerns. The company is now seeking to develop a broader technology-led offering rather than operating solely as an accommodation marketplace.

Expanding Beyond Accommodation Bookings

Over time, House of Student intends to expand beyond room discovery and reservations by introducing AI-enabled services that support students throughout their higher education journeys. Although the company has not provided detailed information about these future products, its strategy indicates an ambition to create a more comprehensive student living platform. Such services could deepen its relationship with users beyond the initial housing transaction while differentiating the business from conventional property-listing platforms.

Addressing a Fragmented Market

The international student housing sector remains spread across universities, private accommodation operators, landlords, agents, and online marketplaces, creating difficulties for students making decisions from another country. House of Student is positioning its platform as infrastructure connecting these participants while using verification systems and technology to improve access to reliable housing information. Its ability to convert a large room network into completed reservations and sustained student engagement will be an important measure of the company’s progress following the seed round.

The $2 million financing gives House of Student additional resources to improve its platform, broaden its housing supply, enhance AI capabilities, and enter more international markets. Backing from a combination of institutional investors, industry executives, and existing stakeholders also provides the company with strategic relationships as it pursues global growth. Its next phase will depend on whether it can translate its accommodation network and founder experience into a scalable platform serving students before, during, and potentially beyond their housing search.
