Veterinary startup Hello Vet has raised $20 million in Series A funding, backed by Addition and Future Positive, alongside 15 leading and specialist vets, as it scales its approach to pet care across the United Kingdom. Founded in 2022 by James Lighton, Alessandro Guazzi, and veterinary surgeon Dr Oli Viner, the company is building clinics designed to improve the experience for pets, owners, and veterinary teams. The round takes Hello Vet’s total investment to $28.1 million, following a $8 million Seed round in August 2023, and the business says it now has over 7,500 registered patients.
A New Model for Patient and Owner Experience
Hello Vet is reshaping the clinical experience by inviting pet owners into procedure rooms to stay with their animals during key moments. Clients can hold their pets’ paws as anesthesia is administered and be present again when their pets wake up, an approach the company says reduces stress for both pets and people, while helping improve outcomes, speed recovery, and build trust through transparency.
To improve access to care beyond the clinic, Hello Vet provides a complimentary WhatsApp triage service for registered clients. This lets pet owners speak with a qualified practitioner without an in-person visit, and the company says the service saved owners more than $100,000 in veterinary fees over the last year.
Addressing the Professional Burnout Crisis
The veterinary profession is facing high burnout and attrition across the UK. Hello Vet points to industry pressure, with one in three veterinary professionals considering leaving the profession within five years, and around 10 percent leaving annually.
A core part of Hello Vet’s strategy is investing in proprietary technology and AI applications to streamline clinic operations. The company says these tools are designed to cut administrative time by up to 90 percent, reducing routine paperwork and operational tasks so clinical teams can focus more on delivering care to pets and supporting owners.
Fueling Growth with Strategic Investment
The Series A was supported by Addition and Future Positive, with backing from 15 specialist vets, reinforcing investor confidence in a model that prioritizes both quality care and a healthier work environment for veterinary professionals. Addition partner Robbie Horwitz said Hello Vet’s focus on better support for vet teams is helping redefine what pet care can look like in the UK.
With the new funding, Hello Vet plans to expand nationwide, launching clinics across the UK and hiring 200 vets and vet nurses over the next two years. The company says its growth plan is centered on scaling without compromising care quality or the sustainability of the work environment it is building for clinical teams.
