CureMeAbroad, a Pune-based healthcare technology platform focused on international treatment discovery and booking, has raised US$1.1 million in a Pre-Seed funding round led by healthcare-focused venture capital fund SteerX Ventures. Existing investor AIRA also participated in the round. This investment follows an earlier US$600,000 raise in April 2025 from investors including Roman Saini, Himanshu Ratnoo, Kunal Gupta, Devaiah Bopanna, Vikrant Potnis, and AIRA.
Capital Deployment and Strategic Priorities
The fresh capital will be used to expand the company's accredited hospital network, enter new patient source markets, strengthen its AI-powered technology, and build its operations and technology teams. CureMeAbroad also plans to diversify beyond elective healthcare by expanding into non-elective specialties such as orthopedics and oncology. In addition, the startup is exploring physical experience centers in key international markets to support patients earlier in their decision-making process.
Platform Model and Patient Verification
Founded in June 2025 by Aditya Oza and Mikhail Bohra, CureMeAbroad helps international patients discover and compare hospitals, verify healthcare providers, obtain treatment estimates, and book care across destinations. The platform combines healthcare discovery, treatment planning, pricing transparency, and patient assistance into a single ecosystem. It currently attracts more than 22,500 visitors per month and has established a hospital network spanning six countries.
Growth Metrics and Market Focus
The company's key patient source markets include the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada, where high healthcare costs and long waiting periods are encouraging cross-border care. CureMeAbroad is targeting US$100 million in annual patient treatment bookings by fiscal year 2028, compared with its current US$4.8 million run rate. The platform positions India as a destination for international healthcare while supporting patients throughout the treatment journey.
Investor Perspective
According to Lalit Singla, founder and CEO of SteerX Ventures, high healthcare costs and long waiting periods are encouraging patients in markets such as the US, Europe, and Australia to explore quality care across borders. He said CureMeAbroad is building the technology and infrastructure required to make that journey more trusted and seamless. Aditya Oza, co-founder of CureMeAbroad, noted that SteerX did not need convincing that the category needs an AI-native platform.
Accreditation and Patient Safety
CureMeAbroad has received Medical Travel Facilitator Certification from Global Healthcare Accreditation, and its network spans more than 400 accredited hospitals across six countries. The certification supports the company's model of verifying providers against JCI or equivalent national accreditation standards. This verification framework is intended to strengthen patient confidence in cross-border treatment decisions.
Competitive Landscape
The company competes with international platforms such as Bookimed, PlacidWay, The Medical Tourism Company, and Medical Departures. In India, Vaidam Health also helps international patients find hospitals and treatment options across a range of specialties. CureMeAbroad differentiates itself through its AI-native platform, its large network of accredited hospitals, and its emphasis on pricing transparency and patient support throughout the treatment journey.
The Pre-Seed round positions CureMeAbroad to accelerate its expansion in the global medical tourism market by broadening its hospital network, enhancing AI capabilities, and entering new international markets. With a verified network and a platform focused on pricing transparency and patient support, the startup is building infrastructure for more accessible cross-border care. Its ability to reach the US$100 million annual booking target will depend on execution, market demand, and continued differentiation in a competitive landscape.
