Flipkart, India's homegrown e-commerce marketplace, announced a minority stake investment in Delhi-based B2B travel technology platform TravClan on October 5, 2026, from Bengaluru. The investment will strengthen international travel supply and expand the holiday packages available across Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel, marking another step in Flipkart's expansion beyond core ecommerce. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Strategic Focus on International Travel
TravClan powers outbound leisure travel with direct supplier listings across domestic and international destinations. Its technology platform enables more than 15,000 travel agents to customize and book packages, hotels, and activities in real time with 24/7 on-ground customer support. By integrating TravClan's partner network, technology, and destination operations, Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel can offer a wider range of international holiday packages.
What TravClan Brings
Founded in 2018 by Arun Bagaria, Chirag Agrawal, and Ashish Thapliyal, TravClan helps travel agents build and grow online businesses. The company works with more than 15,000 travel agents to customize and book real-time packages, hotels, and activities. Its investor base includes Cars24 cofounders Vikram Chopra and Mehul Agrawal, Trip.com's Travis Katz, and institutional investor Leo Capital.
Executive Perspectives
Flipkart Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Partnerships Nishant Verman said that travelers today want holidays curated around their interests and supported throughout the journey. He added that TravClan's supplier network and destination capabilities will help build that experience across Cleartrip and Flipkart Travel. TravClan Co-Founder and CEO Arun Bagaria noted that India is becoming one of the largest outbound travel markets in the world, with first-time international travelers driving significant growth.
Funding and Expansion Plans
The fresh capital will support TravClan's investment in global supply, technology, and destination expansion. It will also fund team growth across business development, engineering, and destination operations. TravClan said that contracting directly with suppliers and operating its own ground teams allows it to offer competitive prices and a consistent service experience.
Flipkart's Broader Diversification
Flipkart has been building out business verticals beyond its flagship ecommerce platform. The company has expanded in-house Flipkart Travel from flight booking services into bus and hotel bookings, and Cleartrip, acquired in 2021, later entered corporate travel. It is also eyeing new entries in food delivery and event ticketing.
Quick Commerce Growth
Flipkart Minutes has become a fast-growing part of the company's expansion strategy. Ahead of its annual Big Billion Days event, Flipkart said it expanded its dark store network to nearly 1,200 Flipkart Minutes microfulfillment centers across more than 150 cities. The company expects to add another 1,000 dark stores by mid-2027 or the Big Billion Days sale of 2027.
Ecosystem Investments
Flipkart Ventures has made more than 20 startup investments across artificial intelligence, consumer internet, fintech, ecommerce adjacencies, and logistics technology. Recent investments include Alive, an AI-powered platform for live consumer experiences, and Keploy, a native-AI software testing platform. The company says it supports portfolio ventures with strategic mentorship, operational expertise, and ecosystem access beyond the capital they receive.
Flipkart's minority stake in TravClan signals a deeper push into international leisure travel and a broader strategy to expand high-growth business lines. The collaboration combines TravClan's supplier network, booking technology, and on-ground support with Flipkart's consumer reach and travel platforms. As outbound travel from India continues to grow, the partnership positions both companies to serve demand for affordable and curated international holiday experiences.
