Flip, an AI-native employee experience platform for frontline workers, has secured $25 million in a new funding round. The investment, led by existing backers Notion Capital and HV Capital, is earmarked to extend artificial intelligence benefits to the deskless workforce. This capital aims to bridge the digital gap and equip workers in sectors like retail and logistics with advanced AI tools.

Addressing the AI Gap for the Global Workforce

A significant disparity exists in AI adoption, with office workers benefiting while the global frontline workforce is left behind. An estimated 80% of workers in production, retail, and hospitality currently have limited access to these advanced tools. This digital divide threatens career progression, pay, and job security in sectors already facing high employee turnover.

Strategic Capital for Foundational Growth

The new $25 million round sees expanded stakes from returning investors Notion Capital and HV Capital, showing strong confidence in the company. They are joined by new investor L-Bank, the development bank of Baden-Württemberg, alongside a consortium of other backers. This funding will build the essential infrastructure for AI adoption, rather than developing another standalone application.

A Platform Built for Frontline Accessibility

At the core of Flip's strategy is its innovative product, Fusion, which generates custom frontline applications in real time. This approach bypasses the lengthy traditional software procurement cycle, offering unparalleled agility to organizations. It provides a dynamic solution for businesses looking to quickly deploy tailored digital tools for their operational teams.

Complementing this is the new Frontline Identity feature, which removes the need for a corporate email address for system access. This innovation dismantles a significant historical barrier, simplifying the login process for millions of deskless employees. By providing a secure digital identity, Flip ensures every worker can connect to their company's digital ecosystem.

Co-founder and CEO Benedikt Brand emphasized that the platform closes a critical gap by providing the digital foundation for AI in operational work. He stated the company's mission is to create a world where no employee is left behind by technology. Flip aims to unlock AI's full potential by ensuring it reaches every employee, not just those in an office.

Demonstrated Impact and Enterprise Adoption

Founded in 2018, Flip has grown to 150 employees and serves over 1,000 brands, with its platform used by two million people globally. The company counts industry leaders like Bosch, REWE, and FORVIA HELLA among its extensive client base. This widespread adoption underscores the platform's effectiveness in diverse operational environments across Europe and the US.

Global packaging leader Greif exemplifies the platform's success, achieving 85% adoption during its initial pilot. The company sustained 74% weekly active users and has since expanded the platform to over 100 sites across 15 countries. Similarly, Europart has utilized Flip since 2021 to connect 2,000 employees across 28 countries with AI-supported tools.

Investor Conviction in a Category-Defining Company

Jos White, General Partner at Notion Capital, reiterated the firm's support, noting their conviction that Flip is defining the AI for frontline teams category. This reflects the company's successful expansion in European and American markets since Notion's initial 2022 investment. The decision to double down highlights a strong belief in Flip's continued leadership and innovation.

Fabian Gruner, Partner at HV Capital, praised Flip as a trusted partner for enterprises seeking to digitally empower their workforce. He highlighted the company's clear product vision and impressive cross-market execution as key factors in its success. HV Capital's continued backing underscores its confidence in the team's ability to drive ongoing growth.

This $25 million investment marks a pivotal moment for Flip and the future of the frontline workforce. By focusing on foundational infrastructure and accessible AI tools, the company is positioned to empower a historically underserved segment of the global economy. The capital will accelerate Flip's mission to ensure the benefits of artificial intelligence are shared by all employees.
