London-based startup First Concepts has secured $1 million in a pre-seed funding round to advance its AI-powered creative workspace. The investment, co-led by Arāya Ventures and Antler, comes less than nine months after the company's inception. First Concepts aims to revolutionize creative workflows by transforming abstract context and taste into a structured, compounding asset for agencies.

Addressing a Fragmented Creative Process

Creative agencies face significant inefficiencies, often spending up to $265,600 per pitch while losing 40% of their time reconstructing context across disparate tools. This fragmentation hinders collaboration and dilutes the creative vision during critical early-stage work. First Concepts was founded to address this costly and time-consuming challenge directly.

The company is led by a team with diverse and relevant expertise. Co-founder and CEO Conor Hoey is a former product marketing leader from Amazon, while Polina Sali brings extensive experience as a brand and systems designer. Completing the founding team is Marin Godechot, a full-stack and AI engineer with a decade of experience.

A New Operating System for Creativity

First Concepts has developed an AI intelligence layer that functions as an operating system for creative thinking. It operates above the existing technology stack to coordinate leading AI models and creative tools through a shared context. This unique approach ensures that human judgment and taste remain central to the creative process.

The platform is built on three foundational pillars designed to maintain creative coherence. A "Creative DNA" engine learns and applies individual and brand-specific judgment to every project. This is complemented by a unified interface that treats context as the single source of truth and a tool-agnostic infrastructure.

At the heart of the system is "Creative Memory," an infrastructure layer that preserves taste and compounds decision-making across all projects. CEO Conor Hoey stated the mission is to build an operating system that understands the value of creative thinking. This transforms ephemeral ideas into tangible, structured assets for creative teams worldwide.

Investor Confidence and Market Traction

The pre-seed round attracted significant interest from prominent industry figures, signaling strong market confidence. Alongside lead investors Arāya Ventures and Antler, participants included leaders from Havas, We Are Social, and UNKNOWN. This backing provides both capital and strategic validation for the company's ambitious vision.

Adam French, a Partner at Antler, praised the founders for their rare combination of technical depth and creative intuition. He noted that by building a taste-aware layer, they ensure human judgment remains the primary driver of creative work. French expressed confidence that the platform will become essential infrastructure for brands and agencies.

Despite its recent launch, First Concepts has already gained significant traction with over 40 independent agencies in London and New York. High-profile clients like Mother and R/GA are reportedly achieving up to 70% time savings in developing pitch-winning concepts. Users also report an elevation in the creative quality of their AI-assisted outputs.

With its new funding, First Concepts is well-positioned to accelerate the development of its taste-aware AI workspace. The platform addresses a clear pain point in the creative industry by unifying fragmented workflows and preserving invaluable creative context. As agencies increasingly adopt AI, this solution promises to enhance efficiency while keeping human creativity and judgment at the forefront of innovation.
