Swiss robotics startup Exclaim Robotics has officially emerged from stealth, securing $4.95 million in a pre-seed funding round co-led by Founderful and Playfair. The company is developing autonomous robots to perform complex maintenance tasks inside the next generation of AI data centers. This investment will accelerate the development of its platform, which aims to enhance operational efficiency and address critical safety concerns in an increasingly automated industry.


The Safety Imperative in Modern Data Centers

The push for greater computing power in AI has led to a significant increase in power densities within data center racks. Future AI infrastructure is projected to operate at 800V DC, a level that poses substantial safety risks for human technicians performing routine maintenance. Exclaim Robotics was founded to address this challenge, providing a robotic solution that can handle hazardous tasks and ensure the physical layer of data centers keeps pace with automation.

An Advanced Robotic Solution

Exclaim's platform is centered on mobile autonomous robots capable of navigating data halls and positioning themselves precisely at server racks. These robots are designed for dexterous manipulation rather than heavy lifting, focusing on intricate tasks like cleaning and replacing fiber-optic connectors. The system is engineered to work on the front face of a rack, from the floor to the top rail, without requiring any modifications to the existing building infrastructure.

At the helm is founder Helen Oleynikova, whose extensive 15-year career includes pivotal roles at Google, Microsoft, and Nvidia, as well as research at ETH Zürich. During her time at Nvidia, she co-created nvblox, a sophisticated 3D mapping and collision-avoidance library now shipped with Nvidia Isaac ROS. She is joined by a formidable team of founding engineers from Nvidia and ETH, including Dr. Patrick Pfreundschuh, ensuring deep expertise in the field.

The global data center robotics market is on a steep growth trajectory, projected to expand from approximately $13.7 billion in 2024 to over $44.2 billion by 2030. While other companies are developing robots for inspection and logistics, Exclaim is carving out a specific niche by focusing exclusively on hands-on repair inside live, high-voltage racks.
