Egyptian electric mobility startup EVRAID plans to launch a $2 million funding round in early 2027 as it looks to significantly increase battery production and expand its manufacturing operations. The company expects the fundraising process to take about six months, with proceeds directed toward securing larger volumes of components, increasing inventory, and supporting higher production capacity. The planned investment is also expected to help EVRAID reduce manufacturing costs while expanding electrical and mechanical testing across its battery products.

Scaling Local Electric Mobility Manufacturing

Founded in December 2023, EVRAID develops and manufactures technologies for electric vehicles, including battery management systems, battery packs, and electric powertrain solutions. The company is working to localize more of the electric drivetrain supply chain in Egypt, covering electronic boards for battery management systems, batteries, and vehicle controllers. Its products primarily target business customers operating electric scooters, bicycles, light electric vehicles, golf carts, forklifts, and shared mobility fleets.

EVRAID currently manufactures its products from a facility in Abu Rawash, Giza, where production capacity stands at approximately 10 batteries per day. The company plans to expand the facility and introduce additional manufacturing processes as demand from customers increases, including efforts to manufacture electric vehicle controllers locally. EVRAID estimates that locally sourced content currently represents around 40% of its batteries and is working to raise that percentage further.

Battery Production Target for 2027

EVRAID has produced approximately 1,000 batteries since the beginning of 2026 through customer projects and pilot programs and expects to deliver around 2,000 units by the end of the year. Based on existing contracts, the startup is targeting monthly production of more than 5,000 batteries during 2027, representing a substantial increase from its current manufacturing capacity. Expanding component procurement and inventory through the proposed $2 million financing is expected to support this production ramp.

Battery pricing varies considerably depending on power requirements, application, and the technology used, with some EVRAID products starting at approximately EGP 4,000. More advanced battery systems can cost as much as EGP 100,000, while batteries developed for applications such as golf carts can cost around EGP 70,000. The company aims to compete with imported alternatives while increasing the amount of technology and manufacturing completed domestically.

Additional Funding and Certification Plans

Before pursuing the larger 2027 financing, EVRAID is targeting the completion of a separate $400,000 funding round by the end of October 2026. The capital is expected to finance certifications for the company's battery management systems, an important step toward selling its products in international markets. EVRAID has begun discussions with venture capital firms and investors introduced through startup and technology programs in which the company has participated.

The startup has also received support from Egypt's Information Technology Industry Development Agency through the Egypt Makes Electronics initiative and its EME program. According to the company, the program has supported the development of its commercial strategy, sales capabilities, brand positioning, and battery management system business. EVRAID is also using events such as Techne Summit to meet potential investors, recruit specialized talent, and build relationships across the electric mobility ecosystem.

Expansion Across Africa

International expansion forms another major component of EVRAID's growth strategy, with the company planning to enter African markets and potentially establish a local entity elsewhere on the continent. It is also seeking to increase exports of its battery management systems and other electric mobility technologies beyond Egypt. Alongside transportation applications, EVRAID is working with companies in the solar energy sector to develop battery solutions that can support renewable energy installations.

The startup is also participating with another company in Egypt's Alliance and Development initiative on a project to develop an electric vehicle capable of carrying approximately 50 passengers. EVRAID is responsible for work related to the vehicle's electrical system, adding another potential application for its locally developed technologies. The project aligns with the company's broader strategy of expanding from individual battery products toward integrated electric powertrain systems.

EVRAID's planned $2 million fundraising marks an important step in its effort to transform from a relatively small battery manufacturer into a larger supplier of electric mobility technology. Increasing production to more than 5,000 batteries per month, expanding its Abu Rawash facility, and securing international certifications could strengthen its ability to serve both Egyptian and overseas customers. With African expansion and greater localization also planned, the company is positioning manufacturing scale and domestic technology development at the center of its next growth phase.
