Enable Ventures has announced the final close of its debut fund with US$50 million in total commitments. The fund is the first market rate venture fund dedicated to closing the disability wealth gap through inclusive, AI-driven technology. Launched in June 2022 by Regina Kline and Jim Sorenson, it has already committed to 11 companies across worktech, digital health, and assistive tech.

A Milestone for Inclusive Technology Investment

The new fund attracted commitments from prominent institutional investors including UnitedHealth Group, Liberty Mutual Investments, The Ford Foundation, Ally Bank, and SHRM. Other limited partners include Ascension, Britebound, Weingart Foundation, Social Finance, The Doctors Company, Next50, and Guy's & St Thomas' Foundation. Enable Ventures targets high-growth, early-stage artificial intelligence and machine learning startups that embed accessibility and universal design from the outset.

Thesis Centered on Disability-Inclusive AI

Enable Ventures operates on the thesis that disability-inclusive design pushes AI innovation into new frontiers. Rather than treating AI as an afterthought, its portfolio companies use it as a foundational asset to address accessibility, data, and labor challenges. The fund seeks a double bottom line that drives profit and purpose within the historically underserved global disability community.

Capital Allocation Across Key Sectors

The fund allocates capital to up-skilling, re-skilling, and future-proofing work, alongside inclusive digital tools that help people with disabilities find and maintain quality employment. It also invests in next-generation assistive technology and provides early-stage capital to founders with disabilities. Enable Ventures believes that training AI on authentic data reflecting the disability experience creates superior technology with broad market value.

Portfolio Companies and Early Momentum

Enable Ventures has backed companies such as Be My Eyes, Kalogon, Cionic, Goodpath, Ava, Daivergent, DeepWalk, Inclusively, Mindset Care, Pear Suite, and Wheel the World. These startups operate across visual interpretation, smart seating, neural wearables, virtual care, live captioning, workforce inclusion, accessibility infrastructure, and accessible travel. The portfolio demonstrates the fund's focus on founders who are influencing mainstream technology sectors.

Investor and Leadership Perspectives

Founder and Managing Partner Regina Kline said the support of mission-aligned investors reflects growing recognition that inclusive tech is at the forefront of AI-centered innovation. She added that Enable Ventures is building a home for founders across worktech, digital health, and assistive tech who are already influencing big tech. Kline emphasized that designs centered on the disability community are more effective from the outset.

Jim Sorenson, Founder and Executive Chairman of Sorenson Impact Group, noted that products built with the disability community at the center can create competitive market rate returns and a more fulfilling life for people with disabilities. Catherine Anderson of UnitedHealth Group described the partnership as a way to expand opportunity and accelerate innovation. Johnny C. Taylor Jr. of SHRM added that inclusion is a competitive advantage, not a compliance obligation.
