Stockholm-based Elvy, an Energy-as-a-Service company focused on the household energy transition, has announced an investment from actor and environmental advocate Leonardo DiCaprio and the rollout of a customer referral platform. The undisclosed investment is part of a €1.43 million second close of the company's previously announced funding round. The news follows a breakout year in which Elvy's revenue increased tenfold in 2025 compared with the previous year.

Investment Details and Executive Reactions

DiCaprio's backing follows his 2023 investment in German residential solar provider Enpal, underscoring his sustained interest in European EnergyTech startups. Elvy CEO and co-founder Johan Outinen said the company is excited to welcome DiCaprio on its journey and described the involvement as a strong vote of confidence in its potential. In a statement, DiCaprio added that Elvy demonstrates energy efficiency can be both measurable for homeowners and scalable as a business while advancing a new energy model.

Previous Funding and Growth Milestones

The €1.43 million second close builds on a series of milestones, including a €5.9 million funding round reported in May 2026 and a €500 million credit facility announced in December 2025. The company's tenfold revenue growth in 2025 provides evidence that homeowners are seeking integrated energy solutions that reduce consumption and costs. This momentum has allowed Elvy to expand its model and bring intelligent energy systems to more homes across Europe, reinforcing its role in the household energy transition.

A Subscription Model That Reduces Household Consumption

Founded in 2023, Elvy installs smart, integrated energy systems and software and makes them accessible through what the company describes as the world's first energy subscription. By combining hardware with optimization software, Elvy enables households to manage energy more intelligently while reducing consumption and costs. According to the company, its approach can reduce a household's energy consumption by an average of 60%, creating measurable impact at the household level and supporting Europe's broader climate and energy goals.

Referral Platform as an Alternative Subsidy

Elvy's new customer referral platform is designed to make it easier for households to participate in the renewable energy transition. Outinen said today's subsidies demand that consumers take on the financial burden of transitioning to renewables, which puts risk on consumers and excludes those without financial ability. With the Elvy app, consumers can earn money by speeding up the transition, and the company created its own subsidy program to democratize energy access.

The Broader European Household Energy Market

Households consistently rank as Europe's second-largest energy consumer, a fact that highlights the savings potential in turning regular houses into flexible energy assets. Across Europe, businesses working on household electrification, building energy efficiency, and distributed energy management have reported more than €160.9 million in company-level funding during 2026. Notable rounds include €21 million for London-based Axle Energy, €15 million for Oslo-based Photoncycle, and €10 million for Berlin-based GALVANY, while Berlin-based Cloover secured substantial debt facilities to support residential energy deployment.

Elvy's tenfold revenue growth in 2025 marks a significant milestone as the company expands its model and brings integrated energy systems to more homes. With continued demand for solutions that reduce energy consumption and manage complex home energy systems, Elvy is focused on expanding access to its technology and intelligent energy optimization. DiCaprio's investment and the new referral platform position the company to advance a new model for how energy can be produced, managed, and consumed.
