Stockholm-based eComID has secured a $17 million seed funding round to advance its AI-powered personalization platform for online retail. Led by Systemiq Capital, the investment will fuel the company's international expansion and the development of its flagship Shopping Passport. This capital aims to establish a new standard for how brands understand and interact with online shoppers.

The Challenge of Shopper Context

The modern eCommerce landscape struggles with a fundamental lack of shopper context, even with advanced AI. Online stores often have little information about a customer's personal style, size, or fit preferences, leading to a generic experience. This information gap results in inefficient product discovery and high return rates for retailers.

eComID addresses this issue by creating a context layer for digital commerce through its Shopping Passport. This tool allows shoppers to carry their preferences across a network of connected brands for immediate personalization. The platform's AI agent, Vera, then uses this data for intelligent sizing recommendations and tailored product discovery.

Demonstrating Market Impact

Since its 2024 launch, eComID has partnered with over 60 brands, including COS, Axel Arigato, and Peak Performance. The platform reaches 20 million shoppers monthly, achieving this growth organically without a dedicated sales team. This rapid adoption highlights strong market demand for a more intelligent and personalized shopping experience.

The platform's effectiveness is validated by compelling performance metrics that underscore its value proposition. Brands using eComID report an average 10% increase in conversion rates and a 30% reduction in product returns. These results showcase the technology's ability to create more satisfying purchases that shoppers are more likely to keep.

Fueling International Growth

The new capital will be instrumental in scaling eComID's operations and expanding its footprint into new international markets. A primary focus is accelerating the rollout of the Shopping Passport to establish it as a global standard. The funding also supports further development of the platform's capabilities for a growing roster of global brands.

Oscar Rundqvist, co-founder and CEO, noted that AI without context is ineffective for a truly personal experience. He explained the company is building the missing layer between shoppers and brands to make online shopping more intuitive. This investment will accelerate their mission to build the infrastructure for the next era of commerce.

Strong Investor Confidence

The funding round was led by Systemiq Capital, a firm known for backing founders redefining economic sectors. The syndicate includes Regeneration.VC and Course Corrected, alongside a strategic investment from retailer and early customer, Stadium. Returning investor CapitalT and existing backer H&M Group also participated, signaling strong confidence in the company's vision.

Gemma Bloemen of Systemiq Capital noted that eComID is solving a structural problem by enabling AI to personalize commerce with context. She praised the team's understanding of brand needs and their ability to align a better shopper experience with stronger economics. This reflects a belief that eComID can become foundational infrastructure for intelligent online retail.

This $17 million seed round marks a pivotal moment for eComID, providing resources to scale its vision for a personalized eCommerce ecosystem. By bridging the context gap between shoppers and brands, the company is positioned to reduce waste from returns and redefine retail standards. The strong investor backing underscores the industry's readiness for a smarter, more sustainable approach to digital commerce.
