PDW Holdings, Inc., a U.S.-based drone manufacturer, has successfully closed its Series B financing round, elevating its total funding to over $110 million. The investment, led by Ondas, is earmarked for expanding the production of its multi-mission unmanned systems for defense and public safety clients. This capital infusion will accelerate the company's growth initiatives and strategic programs to meet increasing national security demands.

Strategic Investment for Domestic Production

The financing round saw significant participation from key investors including Hood River, Cedar Pine, Hanwha Asset Management, and Booz Allen Hamilton. This capital injection, which included a $35 million tranche from Ondas at a $1.2 billion valuation, will directly support the scaling of PDW's manufacturing capabilities. The funds are critical for reinforcing a U.S.-anchored supply chain for its advanced drone technologies.

PDW CEO James Slider emphasized that mission-ready drone technology is a national security imperative that cannot rely on foreign supply chains. He stated that the company is investing heavily in expanded production capacity to deliver resilient, domestically built systems at the highest level. This strategy aims to ensure the United States maintains a technological edge against adversaries who have demonstrated the power of drones at scale.

Meeting Evolving Defense Needs

This funding arrives as the Department of Defense shows heightened demand for affordable, attritable unmanned aircraft systems. Lessons from modern conflicts have spurred initiatives like the Pentagon's Replicator program, which seeks to deploy thousands of autonomous systems. This strategic shift prioritizes mass-producible drones over fewer, more expensive legacy assets for tactical operations.

PDW is well-positioned to meet this demand, holding contracts with every branch of the U.S. Military. The company recently secured a $20.9 million Army contract for its C100 UAS under the Transformation in Contact initiative. This award underscores PDW's alignment with the military's goal of equipping tactical units with organic, deployable air support capabilities.

Advanced Capabilities of the C100 Platform

The company's flagship C100 quadcopter is a modular platform designed for multi-mission flexibility in contested environments. It boasts an endurance of over 74 minutes and can carry a nine-pound payload, supporting missions from reconnaissance to kinetic strikes. Its adaptable design allows for various payloads, including advanced electro-optical sensors and laser designators for precise targeting.

PDW provides an integrated hardware and software stack, including its CORE mission planning software and a dedicated flight simulator for training. With over 50,000 flight hours, the company's technology is proven in real-world scenarios, including successful autonomous flights without GPS. This focus on a complete, reliable system differentiates PDW from competitors in the rapidly growing defense technology sector.

A Veteran-Led Innovator

The company's innovative culture stems from its unique origins in the high-speed world of the Drone Racing League. Its founding team includes elite engineers, drone pilots, and U.S. Special Operations veterans, with over 60% of its leadership having military experience. This blend of commercial-sector agility and battlefield knowledge drives the development of its combat-ready robotic systems.

To support its mission, PDW operates a 90,000-square-foot factory in Huntsville, Alabama, capable of mass-producing its systems. This facility is central to the company's strategy of manufacturing at the scale and speed required by today's rapidly evolving battlefield. The expansion enabled by the new funding will further enhance this domestic production base to meet growing national demand.

The successful Series B financing round marks a pivotal moment for PDW, solidifying its position as a key innovator in the defense technology landscape. This substantial investment validates the company's approach to developing and manufacturing advanced, domestically sourced unmanned systems. As global demand for tactical drones continues to surge, PDW is now better equipped to scale its operations and support the critical needs of the U.S. and its allies.
