Virtual restaurant operator Dil Foods has successfully secured ₹72 crore, approximately $7.7 million, in its Series B funding round. The investment was led by the Bikaji Foods Family Office, with notable participation from existing and new investors including V3 Ventures and Alteria Capital. This capital infusion is earmarked for aggressive geographical expansion, portfolio diversification, and strengthening its supply chain infrastructure.

Strategic Expansion and Growth Ambitions

With this new capital, Dil Foods is set to significantly broaden its national footprint by entering new Tier I and II cities. The company has ambitious plans to scale its operations to 600 locations by the fiscal year 2028. This expansion is part of a larger strategy to achieve an annualized revenue of ₹500 crore.

A Differentiated Business Model

Dil Foods operates on a unique model that partners with local restaurants to utilize their underused kitchen capacity. The company provides standardized, ready-to-cook supplies for its portfolio of nine regional cuisine brands, including Khichdi Bar and Bihari Bowl. This symbiotic relationship allows partner restaurants to generate additional revenue without significant overhead costs.

The platform's efficiency is enhanced by a system that allows for food regeneration in just two to three minutes, minimizing operational costs for its partners. Dil Foods manages key expenses like marketing, commissions, and logistics, creating a seamless experience for the eateries. This innovative approach effectively transforms industry inefficiencies into a distinct competitive advantage.

Investor Confidence and Market Positioning

This latest funding brings the company's total capital raised to over ₹113 crore, signaling strong investor confidence in its growth trajectory. The round saw participation from prominent backers who recognized the potential in its capital-efficient and differentiated business strategy. Their continued support underscores the viability of the company's unique approach in the competitive food-tech space.

Investors have praised the company's remarkable growth and its focus on promoting authentic regional cuisines across India. Deepak Agarwal of Bikaji Foods highlighted the shared passion for Indian flavors and the company's scalable approach. This sentiment reflects a broader market trend towards embracing diverse, regional culinary experiences through digital platforms.

Fortifying Backend Infrastructure

A significant portion of the funds will be dedicated to reinforcing the company's backend production and supply chain. The firm's one lakh square foot central kitchen in Bengaluru is a critical asset supporting its multi-city expansion. This investment ensures consistent quality and operational excellence as the network of virtual brands grows across its 300-plus partner restaurants.

The successful Series B funding round marks a pivotal moment for Dil Foods, equipping it with the resources for substantial growth. By focusing on a sustainable partnership model and authentic regional food, the company is well-positioned to capture a larger share of India's burgeoning food delivery market. This strategic investment will fuel its mission to bring diverse Indian flavors to more consumers efficiently.
