Dextr AI, a San Francisco-based AI agent platform for the hospitality industry, has raised $6.7 million in seed funding to expand its technology and forward-deployed operating model. The round was led by Elevation Capital, with participation from Foundation Capital. The company is also launching Doss Gen 1, a natural-language command layer designed to help hospitality employees manage specialized AI agents across reservations, guest services, operations, staffing, sales, and marketing.
Building an AI Workforce for Hospitality
Dextr AI has developed an agentic platform intended to operate as an intelligence layer across hospitality businesses rather than as a standalone automation tool. Employees can communicate with the system through natural-language voice or text commands, while enterprise operators can apply role-based permissions, audit trails, and standardized processes across multiple properties. The company says its technology is already automating more than one million interactions each month across hundreds of hotels and resorts in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe.
The platform is being used by properties operating under major hospitality brands including Hilton, Wyndham, Best Western, and IHG. Dextr combines voice calls, text messages, emails, and online chat within a common system, allowing its AI agents to maintain coordinated guest and operational interactions across different communication channels. It also integrates with dozens of hospitality software platforms and has achieved SOC 2 Type 2, PCI, and GDPR compliance.
Forward-Deployed Approach Targets Operational Complexity
Rather than relying exclusively on standardized software deployment, Dextr uses a forward-deployed model in which AI strategists and engineers work with hospitality companies to identify high-value workflows and implement tailored automation. Once the systems are configured, employees can direct the resulting AI workforce using Doss without requiring technical expertise. The approach is intended to address fragmented hospitality technology environments where reservations, guest communications, staffing, and back-office processes often operate through disconnected systems.
Dextr's platform includes several specialized agents focused on different areas of hotel operations, including Daisy for voice-based reservations, Alfred for guest management, Manny for back-office workflows, and Cosmo for sales and marketing. Daisy can handle reservation bookings and modifications while supporting more than 90 languages, while Alfred manages functions such as guest requests, upselling, service recovery, and contactless check-ins. Manny supports workforce scheduling and operational tasks, while Cosmo focuses on areas including direct bookings, targeted marketing, returning guests, group sales, and events.
Customers Report Revenue and Cost Improvements
Dextr says customers are already using its technology to process tens of millions of dollars in monthly phone reservation transactions, including voice-based payments. According to the company, one reservation contact center generated $80,000 in incremental revenue within 60 days after deploying its enterprise voice AI system, producing what Dextr described as a 49x return on investment. A six-property hotel group also reported eliminating 1,200 unnecessary labor hours through AI-supported housekeeping and workforce optimization.
The company cited additional customer results including $120,000 in annual operating savings at a destination resort while maintaining 92% guest satisfaction. Dextr also reported that every property using its Alfred guest-management agent experienced higher online travel agency ratings, with an average increase of 0.4 points within 90 days. These figures were disclosed by Dextr and illustrate the company's focus on demonstrating measurable financial and operational results rather than positioning its agents solely as productivity tools.
Funding Supports Further Expansion
Dextr AI was founded by CEO Sajid Shariff and CTO Scott Arnold, with the company describing Shariff as an experienced startup operator with hospitality expertise and Arnold as a former Meta executive. Its team of nearly 20 people includes professionals with backgrounds at Meta, BCG, McKinsey, Stanford, and Harvard. Shariff said the company's goal is to use AI agents to address staffing gaps and operational inefficiencies while allowing hotel employees to spend more time delivering direct guest service.
Elevation Capital Partner Krishna Mehra said Dextr's growth reflects increasing demand among hospitality operators for technology capable of producing measurable improvements to their businesses. He highlighted the founding team's combination of hospitality knowledge and AI experience, as well as the company's emphasis on quantifiable financial outcomes. The new capital is expected to support Dextr as it expands its platform and deploys its AI workforce across additional hospitality operators and properties.
Dextr AI's $6.7 million seed round comes as hospitality operators increasingly explore artificial intelligence to automate repetitive work, improve guest interactions, and control labor and operating costs. By combining specialized agents with a forward-deployed implementation model and the newly introduced Doss command layer, the company is positioning its platform as an integrated operating system for hotel AI workflows. Its next stage of growth will center on expanding adoption while demonstrating whether its reported operational and financial gains can be replicated across a broader range of hospitality businesses.
